    Posted: 13 July 2015 at 1:05pm
We would like to change our babys name but I'm anxious about peoples reaction.
We never had a name picked out before they were born and took a week to tell people what he was called. But I've never felt the name we told people was right, and instead of getting used to it the feeling its the wrong name is getting stronger with each passing week.
We haven't registered his birth yet, but I did put the name on Facebook when he was 1 week old (I haven't mentioned it since). What would you think if you read that your Facebook friend had decided to give their 6week old baby a new first name and make the original name a middle instead?
Opinions please.

Go with whatever name you want! As long as you and hubby are on the same page, that's all that matters!

Yes we are on the same page :) He had doubts initially but was ok with it once it was announced. I was the one who brought it up again after that and many of the issues with the name are mine. But he has said he prefers the "new" name so is happy to change it and doesn't think its a big deal. I feel it is a big deal only because I'm worried that others will think its really strange. Its not really a big deal in any other way, because he doesn't have a birth cert yet.

In my opinion, I would totally go with a change. Baby will have whatever name for the rest of their life and you really want to be happy with it.
Yeah, I would probably be surprised if someone changed their baby's name, but if they weren't happy with the original name I would totally understand. Using it as a second name makes it seem more natural too I think.
It is your baby - others opinions are totally invalid hun x

It is totally up to you and it is your baby whose name you will be calling them for a very long time if they don't get a nickname or change it when grown up so it has to be right for you. I think it is free to change in the first two years? We were considering this with our first but didn't change the birth cert in the end but we have always called him by the nick name we were going to change his name to which everyone calls him and is his name really! When he grows up he can use his more formal one on his birth cert if he wants
