Hi guys, i went to to the dentist for an unrelated matter and he mentioned i have geographical tongue which is apparently something to do with a fungus and hormones (aka pregnancy) and also diet deficiency (had hyperemesis) can cause this.

Anyone know of any safe pregnancy remedies for this, iv never had it before that iv noticed but it hurts like crazy whenever i eat anything acidic or salty and its wrecking my diet further.

He said that B12 was something to try adding but I have a phobia of pills because of puking so many up in the 1st trimester.

Any suggestions please??????

No idea about it but with B12 you can get an injection for that. I get them regularly. Its just in the arm

do you need the docs approval for that though?
my dentist just told me to get my regular one to keep an eye on it, nothing really about treating it, but boy does it hurt sometimes

I get B12 in the arm, you will need to have a blood test through your doc make sure you are actually low.

You need a Drs script to get B12 jabs, but if a test shows you need them I'm sure they'll be happy to give them to you.

I get geographical tongue all the time. Horrible hereditary condition. There is nothing I have found to help it apart from avoiding the types of food that bring it on. I can't eat things like pineapple or kiwifruit at all. Sometimes a nice cold plain ice cream can bring a bit of temporary relief

I have had a geographical tounge all my life and always thought it was just something I had to put up with.  But I saw an acupuncturist / naturopath during my last pregnancy and she thought differently.  She got me to take a whole raft of supplements (like 9 different bottles of pills lol!) in addition to accupuncture to help treat it.  Sorry I can't tell you if her theory is true though - like you I had a bit of a pill popping phobia and could never bring myself to take many at a time ... most are still sitting in the pantry .

Berocca has all the B vitamins in it. Maybe you could start with that and see if it helps before going to your dr for jabs?? But I've never had the condition so can't really offer any advice. GL!
