....is it true that once you have seen a heartbeat that the risk of m/c falls substantially(although is obviously not eliminated)?

Am really hoping this thread doesn't upset anyone  and I am one of those people who *have* been pg, seen the HB and still m/c a good number of weeks later....but I have been told by health professionals that that scenario is more unusual than usual IYKWIM?

Just wondering in general as we saw our little beans HB yesterday and even though I've been worrying about #2 a bit, I would be gutted completely if anything happened!

TIA for your replies

I believe it drops from around 20% risk down to a 5% risk once you have seen the heartbeat. Good luck

Did you think I was telling lies yesterday? hehe
as I said then, yup the m/c rate drops heaps once you've seen the heartbeat! Of course it's not guaranteed but as my OB said once we saw Cheslea's heartbeat at 7ish weeks "now the risk of miscarriage is bugger all"!!

That's what I was told too, once a heartbeat is seen on an ultrasound your chances of miscarriage drops to 5%.

Congratulations on your pregnancy
