Topic: Very slight spotting @ 7 weeks Posted: 24 March 2010 at 8:44am |
I am really paranoid about miscarriage, as we have been trying for 8 years and had only two pregnancies...this current one, and a miscarriage 2 years ago.
Every single time I pee, I check the paper when I wipe to see if there is any blood (see, paranoid!). This may be TMI but then I do another wipe and push the toilet paper in a little and check for blood.
Today there were two of the teeniest dots of blood imaginable. Maybe half a tear drop, and mixed in with mucous so might have looked worse than what it was.
This was at 7:20am, and nothing since.
I have emailed my midwife as we established that it is the most comfortable way for us to communicate, and she usually gets back to me very quickly, but I am not sure exactly what time she turns up at her workplace so will give it a bit longer.
No cramping or pain which is good. But has anyone else had this happen? The blood was pinkish red.

Thanks for that, trying not to worry.
Still no other bits of blood, but boy oh boy! I can't wait for my first scan next week, this week is going to drag on and on.

Lots of people have spotting and go on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies. Thats such a small amount of blood I wouldn't worry.

I had one big bleed, and two smaller ones with Cuinn - it's actually quite normal to have some bleeding apparently! The other thing is that if you are checking the way you are, it could possibly be that you have also irritated the lining of the vaginal wall and that's where it has come from. I know how hard it is, but the level of worry and stress you are putting yourself under is worse for baby - one thing I managed to tell myself is that if something was to go wrong at that early stage, there's nothing you can do to stop it, so the very best thing you can do for baby is to try and take each day as it comes.
(FYI - Cuinn was 5 years in the making and an IVF baby, so I really do understand how especially terrifying it is when you have a hard fought for baby to protect)
Take care!

Completely understand about being paranoid - I think it goes with the territory after having a MC. I had spotting every time I over did things while carrying Ryan - so had to give up big walks and lifting stuff ( family were stricter than the drs!) Talk to your MW - ask for a scan to check on things.
Hugs, its a scary time!

Aaaaww bleeding during pg is horrible....it sounds well within the realms of 'normal' though and there's no cramping or anything so it might just be one of those random bleeds that you'll never know what it was....
When pg with Clodagh, I bled fairly consistently and fairly heavily horrible brown blood stuff until about 10 weeks and it was terrifying. I just tried to take it really really easy and we never ever found out what it was..... and she is sitting here today whinging in her playpen lol

I had something like this at 9 weeks and completely freaked as well, given history of m/c. In my case, they think it was a broken blood vessel bc the blood was fresh, but no sign of any bleeding anywhere when they did the scan. GL. I hope all goes well.

Yea, I had some spotting (and nasty cramping) at ten weeks or so, and it scared the living daylights out of me. It wasn't an issue though - we've just hit 20 weeks, and all seems fine. I know how scary it is (!), but like others have said, try your best to relax, chances are it's all fine.

I remember being an obsesive undie checker and doing what you do with the paper pretty much throughout my second and 3rd pregnancies. I bled actually quite a bit intermittantly with this pregnancy starting at 6 weeks and it only stopped at about 18 weeks. Never bled at all with the 2 I lost. It took me until 22 weeks before I relaxed with this one. It's not "normal" to bleed but by no way is it uncommon either. If you need reassurance, there are some "walk in" pregnancy clinics. I went to the one at Greenlane. I rang them and the next day they assessed me and gave me an US ( I was 6 weeks) to make sure it was okay.
Good luck.

I could hug you guys!
Thanks so much for all the reassurance, it was lovely to come home to and read.
It may well be that I was irritating things and caused it myself. It's now 4:33pm and nothing since. I do get odd pains and twinges, more ovary feeling pains than anything. Nothing all that bad though.
I am still in the frame of mind where I am just waiting for a miscarriage, have been since I tested and got a positive. Every day it's in the back of my head.
