Hi, just wondering if anyone can share their experiences about getting travel insurance past 28 weeks - I'm going to a wedding in Japan in November when I'll be nearly 29 weeks pregnant. It seems like most companies only cover you up to 24-28 weeks. Has anyone been able to add to their policy, and how much extra was it?? Thanks

when you say nearly what do you mean?
I read your post and called STH cross as I was going to take up travel insurance for my trip to Fiji next month. He said as long as I am still 28 weeks before I return I am fine! We fly 18th Sep...I am 28 weeks on the 19th and come back on the 25th so I am still 28 weeks and covered!!

I don't think there is any insurance for post 28 weeks. I have researched this before and could not find anyone who would cover. Also found it interesting that some didn't cover anything relating to pregnancy

I just want to clarify (Im a travel broker), that you can get insurance for everything else apart from the pregnancy. You should get clearance from your mw before you travel anyway...plus Im sure you wouldn't go if there were any problems with your pregnancy.
If any thing happens medically while you are away, you will be fully covered, unless of course it is because of your pregnancy. e.g if you break a leg or catch a virus or something
I use Travelsure and here is what they have about pregnancy.
Most known pregnancies are automatically covered except where there have been complications with this or any previous pregnancy, or where the conception was medically assisted. For these customers, an Assessment form will need to be completed. No cover is provided for routine check ups or scans. No cover exists where unexpected serious complications occur after the 26th week of pregnancy. Cover cannot be provided for childbirth or the health of a newborn child irrespective of the stage of pregnancy at which the child is born.
Good luck :-)
Oh and also, get your travel agent to put a note in the booking saying how many weeks pregnant you are so you don't get any hassles when you check in. Also, it would pay to have some sort of medical cert saying your due date...again to save hassles
