I had a missed miscarriage in February this year and had to have a D and C. We havent really been "trying" for a baby but would be happy if it happened. I now so want to have a precious buddle. We have found out that I am now 6 weeks pregnant and arent telling anyone until we reach the 12 week date. However since I lost the baby at 8 weeks without me knowing until the 12 weeks scan, I am very nervous that this might happen again. Does anyone have any great ideas that can put me to less stressing that this could happen again. I so want this baby and so does DH,,,,, My fingers and toes are crossed to make this happen.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Congratulations!
You could ask your dr for blood tests to make sure your hcg (pregnacy hormone levels) are rising like they should be.

yay, congrats and good luck
i also heard (from a friend.. not a doc) that a woman's 'big O' can disrupt any stickiness due to contractions etc. not sure how accurate that is but maybe somethin to ask your lmc?

Hmmm I dunno about that, because the fertilised egg kind of burrows into the lining of the uterus and starts to establish its blood supply. I'd suggest getting blood tests. They say that it's unlikely that you'll mc one after the other, but I'm unsure of what kind of time frame that refers to. I'm sure things will be hunky doory for ya. We all go through the anxious 12 weeks, so you're not alone. All the best.

congratulations!
I had a similar situation, where I found out at 12 weeks my baby had stopped growing at 9 weeks last April, so when I got pregnant this time I was really nervous too - it's completely normal!!!
Every little cramp etc in those first few weeks scared me so much, but I was able to get some extra HCG tests to make sure my levels were doubling (and I checked them against the 'norm' chart and also noticed my tummy grew more than it had the first time (especially around week 9!)
Also, try and get an earlier scan as well, I timed mine to 2 days after my angel had died last year, so to see a heartbeat was such a relief for me and DH and then again at 12 weeks.
I also told my close family (mum, dad, brother, sister in law etc) straight away this time, as if anything bad happened again I wanted their support - and the support they gave me was great this time, checking up on me all the time and just being thoughtful!
Good luck and hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months!

As above, get blood tests done to assess your HCG levels. I also suggest an early dating scan (normally done at 8 wks pg at the earliest) to help put your mind at ease.

Unfortunately, you are completely normal to worry - just hang in there as much as you can and keep talking to people who you can tell.

I agree with Emachan, an earlier scan might help put your mind at rest. I also had hCG levels done in both my post-loss pregnancies but I found them more stressful than not having them done, I got quite obsessed with the numbers and very anxious waiting for results.
Statistically you are less likely to miscarry again having already had one miscarriage, so the odds are in favour of a sticky bub this time!

You girls are all so lovely. Thank you for your advice and I will contact my MW or DR on Monday to see if I can get another HCG blood test done again... Thank you! I guesss just knowing that other people go thru the same thing is comforting.

Ask for a scan in a weeks time and say its for dating...baby will be there with a heart beat and the chances of MC drops to like 5% so thaty would def put your mind at ease. Other than that, just relax try not to pick up heavY items, rest up, drink water eat good food and chocolate ...and you will be fine! LOL

Congratulations Huggles thats great news. I also agree with both Emma's and definitely favor the early scan as HCG levels can vary and there is such a huge variance and they can be far more worrying for you than what its worth.

Lots of sticky baby vibes for you

Hi there

firstly, congrats!
I had a miscarriage in July last year, and fell pregnant again in the september and now have a 2 months old baby boy The first 12 weeks were really hard as I was so so worried that I was going to lose him, i had more bleeding at 6 weeks, so had a scan which showed a little heart beating away, but even though I saw his heartbeat I still worried.

Just try your best to not worry too much about it, just kind of go with the flow and relax, i know its hard but you wont do yourself any good by worrying too much.
And I second what maya said about being less likley to miscarry having already had one.

look hun if you're worried than you might as well be anal about everything! After my MC I refused to get upset or let anything stress me, avoided ANYTHING that could even slightly cause a miscarriage. I refused to have anything with caffeine, wouldn't go near my cat (poor thing!) til I was after 12 weeks, refused to do any exercise other than gentle walking (I was still going for 20min runs and working out at the gym with last baby!) and was ridiculously careful with what I ate. And hell no I wouldn't have sex!!!

In all likelihood it wouldn't have made much difference but its about how it makes you feel. Being 'extra careful' for 10-12 weeks made me feel like I was doing everything I could to make baby stick.

Now, this baby is so resilient. I've been in a fricken car crash and it didn't worry her one bit!
