Topic: TMI Question Posted: 27 August 2008 at 12:05pm |
I hate asking questions like this....
Is it normal to get increased discharge a few weeks out from being due? I am using panty liners but I always feel like I am damp down there.
I notice it especially at night, and when I get up sometimes it feels like I am wetting myself a little.
Anyone else experienced this?
Sorry for the grossness!!!

Yes it is normal. But it also could be your waters. If you smell it and it kinda smells funky (like semen) then it is possible your waters have broken and I would be calling your MW.

Discharge is normal but it could also be your waters so it is best just to call you mw so that she knows about it and can decide weither or not to get it checked out.

If its waters it will be clear or slighty pink, also you will probably notice it leak when you go from sitting to standing etc and also when bubs moves where as discharge will just happen at random time. And yep it smells like semen. It is normal to get an increase in discharge in the last few weeks though so it could just be that.

I agree with the above but it could also be a bit of stress incontinence, another of the glamorous sides of late pregnancy no one told us about.
Not gross perfectly normal - gets you thinking about doubling up on yourPelvic floor exercises.
would mention to midwife as it could be waters leaking but if it smells like wee it probably is that

I had my muscus plug thing start to come away early in my last pgy but it was just a small amount of stringy white discharge then it became blood stained a few days later.
My waters have always had to be broken so I'm not sure about that side of it but stress incontinence is very common.

Thanks for the answers. It seems much more like discharge than anything else, and smells more like that too.
Oh the joys, huh?

It is normal to get more discharge in late pregnany. Your plug could come away anytime also but like the ladies were saying about your waters, just keep an eye on things. Not long for you now, Good Luck

Sounds like increased discharge, I had that in late pg'cy with all of my girls. You will know if the waters go, you usually get a pop and a gush. Even if they trickle out, it's quite different from discharge

yeah I had that aswell, its so gross lol, my waters broke when I went into labour and you can definitly tell the difference betwen waters and discharge.
My waters were like kind of thick but watery if that makes sense, and they smelt like semen or straw or something, they had a very destinctive(sp?) smell.
Could it be pee? Cos that happened to me towards the end lol, i actually did pee myself once and it always leaked out lol fun fun!

I think we have all peed ourselves at least once, I remember standing in the kitchen when 30 odd weeks and I sneezed and had an accident Was good motivation for doing my pelvic floor exercises.
Teresa I only had a gush when mine broke completely the initial leak I thought might have been blood when I went to check cos it had the same kind of feeling as when you have AF, also being 35 weeks I thought it might have been the show but alas it was my waters, and like Sheena said its like water but a bit thicker somehow and definitely has a smell to it.
