That's a local and a sedative. You will have a general for the tubal ligation which is a completely different kettle of fish.

Yeah I know it's not a general. I was just thinking, it may have had a similar after effect, due to the sedative part of it.

Even if you catch a taxi home, get your partner to come in and collect you if possible.

I guess you're getting it done public? How long was your waiting list? I'll be following this with intrigue as I'm thinking of getting this done.

I was talking to my friend who is a nurse at public hospitals and it turns out this appointment is likely a pre-assessment. So I am rather mad right now to be honest Though I am glad I talked to my friend tonight. Or I would have been extremely upset and angry tomorrow, when I went to this appointment and found out it's only an assessment. I was thinking it was kind of strange I'd had no pre-assessment. And was even expecting another letter with some pre-assessment appointment. Confusion came in, because the booking lady, who booked this appointment said "out of these dates *insert dates* which would suit you for your procedure?" So all this time, once I got the letter, I am thinking ok, this is 'the date' and yeah, the discussion with my friend would point to otherwise. I will ring tomorrow morning to be sure it's an assessment. But seems like it is. Just super annoyed as DF has taken 4 days off for nothing potentially and now I don't even know when I am getting the procedure done. I will be complaining about this stuff up that's for sure. That crap I have been going through leading up to this so called day, has not been fun. Anxiety, nerves, emotions. Anyway, will update tomorrow. And hopefully tomorrow I will have an idea when this will get done. Kind of annoyed about still having to keep Jadelle implant in. Oh and yes, it is getting done Public.

usually you get an appt in a clinic at the hospital & then if everything is ok they will put you on a wait list to be booked in. Have you had this yet?
On you letter it should say if it is for a procedure or assessment.

Stupid letter only said who the appointment is with. Didn't say anything about assessment or procedure. Just that it's in Outpatients clinic and with a Gynecologist. It was the booking lady who told me back in July that I was booking for procedure. I rang up this morning and turns out today is not even an assessment. It's a consultation to talk about operation So yeah, turns out, who knows when I am getting my operation. I was so looking forward to it being done and moving on and being contraception free.

that's annoying that it was not explained to you. Your Dr should of told you the wait process, I take it he was the one referring you.
Hopefully after today you will have some idea when they will do it...good luck.

So I have been to my consultation. They talked to me about the procedure and have approved it. And told me what to expect afterwards and what happens during the procedure. So I of course asked what the waiting time would be til my operation. ...the answer, left my less then impressed... 4-6 months!!! So yeah, not impressed. I feel very disappointed and let down. All because a stupid booking person can't communicate what the appointment was actually for! Grr!

Oh believe me I was very pissed off!
I'm sure I will get over my annoyance. But the Jadelle just isn't gelling well with me.
I mean, damn, my AF originally when I got it put it was every 3 wks and then every 10 days and then my last 2 cycles were normal and then 4 days after my last AF, AF came back 4 days later and is still here!
I wish I could just have the IUD, but I can't. I have had it in before and it was inserted correctly, as they checked and I got pains just sitting on the toilet and every time I'd had sex, it would be like being stabbed in the cervix with a knife and I bled the whole time I have the IUD in, which was for 3 months straight!
Yeah, I think when I add up the referral for Tubal Ligation + when I got the letter + when I had this appointment and add an extra 4-6 months, that would be getting near 2 yrs.

So, I had the chance to get it done this month, but couldn't, as DF couldn't get that date off. So it's booked for 11th December.
Had the pre-assessment yesterday.
Kind of freaked out about it, now I know it's really supposed to be happening. As before I had that consult with the gynecologist I was not too worried. But when they explain to you what could go wrong, you get a little bit more anxious about it.
The phrase, "ignorance is bliss" sprung to mind.
But hmm. Will it actually happen? As DF decided to stop using condoms this month. As he thinks he's not that fertile, due to when we were TTC Annabelle, he got his sperm count tested and it was low. Yet it still only took 3-4 months to conceive, so clearly he's not that low in fertility. And I explained to him that, actually most healthy, fertile couples can take 6-12 months to conceive, so 3-4 months isn't long to achieve getting UTD.
Don't know what he was thinking. He's clearly being naive thinking, oh just 1 month before operation should be safe. Thinking there's no way I'll get pregnant.
It's weird. I was so anti having anymore babies and was totally solid with my decision, but since the letdown a few months ago, I have found myself second guessing my decision.
Plus, it so doesn't help that my sister is UTD and a few friends and other friends have cute little babies. Not helping at all!
DF he said he doesn't want anymore, because we can't afford it. When I discussed with him again a few months back. Yet, well, he's not exactly taken precautions this month either.
I guess we will see in a few weeks if the operation is happening or not.

Golly all that would make you loopy. My DH is going to go see what he needs to do to get a vasectomy, we figure it'll be far less waiting time (if any?), and he has a "free" one as a long-term member benefit of being with Southern Cross for health insurance. It's also a far simpler procedure for him than a tube tie for me. A few guys we know have had it done on a Friday afternoon and been fine for work on Monday, it's only local anaesthetic.

Yeah, just in shock. As is DF. Silly DF asked if it can still get donw(tubal ligation) while you are pregnant. But naive of him to think that. I was like, no, there's a baby in there
