I had a look for it at our supermarket as have been really craving a beer but on closer inspection even though it says alcohol free, on the back in small print it says contains no more than 0.05% alcohol!! Surely that is false advertising!? It's such a miniscule amount that I'm sure it's fine, after all in the UK they tell you it's okay to have the odd glass after the 1st trimester!

OMG, that sounds awesome! I've been craving a cold beer at times, and "beer" has become a swear word at work! One of my workmates almost had me salivating one day!
I guess 0.05% would be okay, I mean mouthwash probably has a higher % and we're not told to avoid that!

Oh bugger.....false advertising!! Probably wouldn't fit much in the belly anyway
It's not as if we are going to binge on them anyway not like with real alcohol

This is a topic I know a bit about, my ex-boyfriend was what you call 'straight edge' (stupid sounding I know) which basically meant no alcohol, smoking or drugs for life.
But, he used to drink Clausthaler's all the time. Once upon a time they used to state they were alcohol free, but something changed in the laws and I am pretty sure to be classified as beer, any beer that is NO ALCOHOL has to be stated as 0.05% alcohol or less. Silly I know.
You can get these at most supermarkets, I believe they are still in the white cans? I had a couple of these during my pregnancy but found I went off even the taste of beer (even the fake stuff) and couldn't drink anything alcoholic until Phoenix was 1 month old.
Good luck ladies, check any other non-alcoholic beers, see if they all state less than 0.05% alcohol.
:)

Does anyone know where to get these non beers in West AKL? As you can't buy alcohol in supermarkets in west akl, we having trouble finding these "beers" - we went to countdown, pak n save & foodtown as they weren't really beers, but no they dont stock them, but the liquor stores we went to didnt stock them either! We went to King Dicks & Local Liquor...
And my poor DP got laughed at (not just a chuckle but a full on laugh...) by one guy at the store when he asked him if they stocked non alcoholic beers....

Angelina I haven't actually found the place, but I have been told there is a liquor store somewhere in te atatu that stocks non-alcoholic beer AND a non-alcohol wine that isnt grape juice, but instead is a wine with the alcohol removed that tastes like normal wine!
I've yet to make it out there to hunt for it but I know it's somewhere close to Wendy's.
i found the non-alcoholic white cans down in Christchurch when there for work and thought I would try one to see if they were even bearable & they seemed ok although I cant deal with the taste at the moment. Was amused when the 16 year old check out boy ID'd me for it! (I'm 30 and look it, apart from the fact it's got no alcohol! )

Hey kmasonnz, I went to that liquor store - there's only the one store in that area near Wendys & Caltex - on Te Atatu Road....they didnt have any of the beer and the man & lady there hadn't even heard of it before
They had a white low alcohol wine, but other than that they recommended grape juice......
Man who would of thought it would be so hard to find! lol

Hey Aliasmum - I have been having the Clauhausters too! I discovered them about a month ago - they come in 4 packs of bottles at the supermarket and I have probably been through about 2 or 3 packs! With the hot summer evenings I have just been really craving beer - so when I discovered them I was pretty happy!! They do taste like the real thing and it says less than 0.5% - so I figure it is ok. I've bought them at Pak N Save and Countdown and Woolworths - so think they are at most of the supermarkets.

Angelina - they are really easy to get at all the supermarkets on the North Shore - so maybe you will have to drive over the Upper Harbour bridge to get them??
