Its the pain that shoots down your butt cheek and leg and no their not related. Or at least I don't think they are. Last time I had the sciatic nerve pain really bad and then got SPD at around 34 weeks, I bent over to clean the bath and was nearly stuck and then had it until he was born.
This time the sciatic nerve pain isn't too bad, just feel it now and then and only in certain positions, I don't have trouble walking with it like I did last time but the SPD has been far worse and started a lot earlier.
Last time I had a breech baby and this time one that is head down so maybe that has made a difference?

I know one thing I would rather have sciatica than SPD

I wonder if sciatica and SPD may have similar causes though ... like if you're already prone to back or hip problems. I've had sciatica in the past, and it's not fun! My bubs is currently breech, I'm hoping that if he turns around soon that the SPD pain will ease.

Morning

WW, I think if bubs was to turn into the cephalic position your SPD would probably get worse coz bubs head will drop into your pelvis,  I think with SPD it's just something we have to put up with, Id never heard of it until I got it with DD1 and she was my 6th child. Oh the joys of being pregnant aye...I just think that Im gonna have the best reward at the end of it all & I'll totally forget about the pain once Im holding my son in my arms...

Okay, I have another question - is the pain going to be more excruciating during labour and birth than without SPD?

Went to my Pilates class today, and just avoided opening my legs up too much. Thankfully had no problems, and I think it may have even helped ease the pain a little afterwards.

WW out of all honesty I think the pain of the contractions overtake the  SPD pain. I dont remember being in pain with the SPD during my labour which I think is strange coz prior to me going into labour just the slightest spread of my legs absolutely hurt so bad. Thats my personal experience anyway so it would be interesting to hear from the other ladies about how they felt during labour...
