Topic: I dont know where to start! Posted: 30 May 2007 at 2:46pm |
Hi everyone,
Well my husband and I have decided to start actively TTC.
I have read a few threads on here which have confused me SO much!
There is so much you have to do and I don't know where to begin!?
I used the ovulation calc to figure out when I am ovulating so is that a start? What else am I meant to be doing!?
AGH, so much to think about and its making me nervous!
Can anyone tell me the 'obvious' things that need to be done when TTC - and by 'obvious' I mean in 'Has no idea about babies' kind of language!
Thanks,

Hey Parki - congrats on TTC! You would find out everything you need to know about TTC if you check out the planning pregnancy thread - there are loads of experienced TTCers for you to pick brians.
I guess the main thing is to track your cycle to make it easy (www.fertilityfriend.com is what I used, it has all the answers to any questions about tracking the cycle too). Start taking a folic acid supplement - you need to make sure it has the right mount for a baby, as a general health supplement won't have enough ( I used elevit for the other stuff in it, it is pricey and you can get cheaper ones).
Have a look at the threads on planning pregnancy board on here, then ask questions there as you will probaly get more attention there rather than here, which is the pregnancy board - as we are already up the duff, we might not remember how we got that way.. lol!
Good luck!

I would recommend you buy an ovulation kit - these are about $30 from a chemist - and you pee on a stick and it tells you when you are ovulating

i wouldnt know what to do in regards to all the ttc stuff, we had 2 woopsies so no trying both times, but i do recomend taking folic acid before you start ttc just ask the pharmacists and they will let you know what one is best, i cant rememebr what i took, but elevit is apparently really good

Ok thanks, so apart from taking elevit, is there anything else we can do to increase our chances of getting pregnant?

just relax and enjoy look in the internet you will fine when the best time to do it is and so on. you cant tell you are pregnant till your period is late any ways. so check when it is a couple of days past your longest cycle. not like me checking every day till my period came till i looked it up and went der wasted lots of money on pg tests. it may take a month or more it took a 9 months with my second child but that was afther comming off the injection. wasnt even trying with this one just a nice surprise. good

Limit alcohol (both you and your partner), just stay healthy!
