Hi, our 14mth old is just over 11kg and is still rear facing in his car seat - can we turn him round now to face the front?

Hi Laura. Am about to purchase a baby capsule. What are the most important features to look out for? Are there any brands that I should trust more than others? Appreciate your help

It is recommended to keep children rear facing for as long as possible (min 2 years) as it is much safer. Rear facing is safer for children due to the weight of their head which is unrestrained and there for more supported when in a rear facing position. A lot will depend on the type of child restraint you have as some only rear face to 9 or 12kg. Please let me know which restraint you have and i can advise further.

Hey - when looking for any carseat it important to make sure it correctly fits your car, you are best to go to a retailer who is able to try out a few types.
with capsules you really do get what you pay for and i recommend capsules that have a base as they are easier to fit correctly every time. Make sure you understand the correct handle position when the vehicle is in motion as sometime this can dictate the type of seat as smaller cars sometimes won’t fit a capsule that requires the handle to be down during the journey. Also you want to be sure it is installed correctly with a locking clip if needed.

Hi. I know a lot about the Diono seats as this is what i have my 3 children in. Are you wanting to use it from birth? Ive not personally tried one in this type of car but i will find out and get back to you. Did you have any other questions regarding it?

Hi, I would be looking for a car seat that has a high rear facing and forward facing harnessed weight limit. Seats like the Diono, Safety 1st complete air or the evenflow symphony have good weight/height limits. Other seats that offer good protection but are a bit cheaper i would recommend are the cosco scenera, safety 1st OnSide air and the evenflow tribute.

I'm not in Chch but still have a Q.
Rear facing in a car seat (not capsule) for my baby, is the belt supposed to be just below the shoulder line or above.

In my husband's car we can't fit 3 car seats across the back seat, so have a rear-facing car seat & a forward facing car seat in the back seat & then an untethered high back booster which we've been using in the front seat for our 6 & 1/2 year old. The car has air bags & we're not able to move the front seat right back as the rear facing seat is behind it. My question is, would he be safer just in the back seat with no booster, or would it be better to leave him in the front seat in a booster? He doesn't travel in this car often as my car will take all 3 seats in the back.
