Just got an email from consumer.org.nz about Delago Feta cheese being recalled due to E.Coli contamination.

lol.. hhhm this reminds me of that post that lizzle wrote about... i wonder if she used that type of feta cheese.

yes...thanks for the pm. No idea if that was the brand as I get the cheap stuff - i don't think so as I'm sure the expiry date was 2008 - but that also seems like a long time for feta....anyway, we'll find out tomorrow at the doctor...just curious - how catchy IS E.Coli?

E.Coli isn't catchy its just a bug that causes food poisoning as far as i know but dont quote me on that

yeah it is a bigy for us preggy mums thanks for sharing with us.
i dotn eat much cheese in general, and never liekd that fancy stuff so i knwo im safe hehe.
hope your doc appointment goes well liz and you get better soon.
hope no one got sick from this feta

e.coli is a type of food poising dosent matter if the cheese is expired or not it will have traces of e.coli in it and you would know within a 24-48 hours if you caught it tummy cramps and vomiting and so on. if not you are ok

well, an update on me. told my doctor about this recall and I have been sent away to produce "samples". she said that e.coli - usually antibiotics do more harm than good in this case, so she said I would muddle through, but considering I feel fine now, I am not too concerned. She said probably camphilobactor though, and nothing to do with the feta - still not sure if this is the brand I used or not, but oh well.

isnt e coli from faecal matter usually? How does it get into the feta.... dont really want to think about that one ewww!
