Not sure about fixed term positions - i would like to think that you would get materntity leave but it might depend on how long you have been there? Like the minimum is 6 months, I think? (that would be ok if you were elsewhere before hand in a teaching position).
You could give your union rep a call to check it out, or just wait until you are happy to talk with your boss. Good luck wiht everything!

I'm pretty sure that you have to have been in the same position for 52 weeks before you quailfy for the paid maternity leave.
And unless you're permanant staff you're not guaranteed your job back after your maternity leave. Your fixed term ends when you finish work.
But I second Miss, I'd give your union rep a call and ask. They'll know everything.

If the forms for PPL is info about teachers get the forms from IRD now and see if you do qualify. For normal PPL you have to of been in the same job for at least 6 months to get PPL.

emachan are you primary or secondary? My husband is head of his school's PPTA union, so if you're secondary and have any questions just let me know (here or PM whatever you prefer) and I'll pass them on.

I was in a FTP and was lucky that my boss re-employed me before I finished up and have now returned in a part-time role.
I think you do have to have been in the same job for 6+ months for PPL, but like the others have said, check with your union rep.

Hopefully my boss will do that - he has told me many times that he doesn't want to lose me and would make me permanent if the roll levels allowed him too - we have too many teachers in their last few years just waiting for retirement!
