I ate everything when i was pregnant with DS, apart from sea food and he came out fine, i think it is abit over the top with what we can and cant eat, as i said DS came out fine and i ate alot of stuff that people "apparently" cant eat while pregnant.

It's not that you can't it's more that you shouldn't just in case.
But I too ate things that you should avoid, I just made sure things were fresh and if they looked dodgy or old I left it. I did feel guilty the first few times, like when I ate ham from the deli... But I also made sure I didn't do it until I was about half way, not sure why though... Hmm! Anyway that was just me, and I'm not telling people they should go ahead and eat it but more do what they are comfortable with.

It is a little over the top and the chances a minimal but it is all about if you want to take that chance. It isn't that you CAN'T eat it, it is that you shouldn't because the chance of listeria is high in that particular product. I personally wouldn't forgive myself if I ate something that I knew that I shouldn't and I got sick and bubs died. To me it isn't worth the risk.

Yes and no, I was a McD's girl way back and if they are used within their time frame they are fine, but they can sit out ofr a while waiting to be used. Best bet is to go during a busy time and know that the turn over of stock is going to be happening.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

There have been a couple of cases in the US of listeria from tahini.

If you made homemade hummus without the tahini you'd be alright.
