DH needs to go to Aussie for work for a couple of days when i'm 36-38 weeks. I'm a bit nervous about it!
Would AirNZ let him get on an earlier flight home if his wife was in labour?
How late is too late? Should I say he can only go up until I'm 37 weeks?

I really don't want to labour by myself and there is no-one else within a 5 hour drive that I'd want with me

What would you do if it was your DH? Its a really good opportunity for him, so I don't want to just say no.

DH did the same thing - drove from AKL to Foxton when I was 38wks for work - he was gone 4 days. I freaked out a little, but he did have to go sooner or later, and I would rather it out of the way! I also have no one else here that I would want with me.

He would be able to get home if needed, it might cost though. Ask him to go as soon as possible, the longer he waits the more chance of you going into labour while he's away!

My DH went away for 4 days when I was 39 weeks I have a theory that things happen when they're meant to - so your body wouldn't let you go into labour (esp that early) if he was away and therefore you weren't relaxed.

You wait, he'll go and come back and a fortnight later you'll still be waiting

On the flight front, if things did start to happen he would have to pay the extra to change his flight but should be able to apply to get reimbursed the difference on medical grounds later (I think!) - Paws or spicey would probably know

Yeah compassionate flight back maybe? But like Weegee said doubtful you'll go into labour while hes away...

Oh hang on Aliasmum didn't you do that??? And DH had to come racing back?? Or was it WRXandJosh... :ponders: I know I was talking to someone about it coz it was funny but DH did make it back in time!

But anyway it really is unlikely I'd just let him go and not worry bout it (easier said than done of course!)

And if the worst comes to the worst I'll come annoy you

WRXandJosh's DP DIDN'T make it back - he was in Nelson while she gave birth in Invers (but very very short labour).

My DH was away up until I was 37 weeks, diff story I guess cos the army would've got him home if they could, but basically it'll cost if he had to get an earlier flight but they should be able to get him on the next available flight for sure.

Hehe, thanks babe.

I know its really unlikely anything will happen, so I will let him go. Its just a bit scary, you know? I'd hate for DH to be away when I go into labour. I just wanted some reassurance really

At least it looks like he'll be going next week rather than later. I'm ok with that I think.
