Topic: pain below Posted: 22 January 2007 at 11:54am |
well I am off to LMC tomorrow but thought I would ask here. I am experiencing pain down there, basically I would call it pelvis/cervix area, and going down to my inner thigh. It is only when I stand, and worse when I walk.
Has anyone else experienced this at all before. I do plan on asking tomorrow, but thought I would ask here as well, given you are all so helpful and full of knowledge!
Oh and as of last visit he is head down if that makes a difference.

It could either be bubs sitting on and therefore pinching your sciatic nerve, or the muscle that supports your uterus having a bit of a complain (from all of bubs stretching and growing). Good move to get it checked out, if for not much more than peace of mind - let us know how you get on !

Isn't there something called Symphysis Pubic Dysfunction that has a similar symptom? I think Janine had it with Ajya... she might be able to tell ya a bit more. Especially now she's all nursy and stuff!
Googling now - SPD

Except really - I don't have a medical degree. So ignore my diagnosis.

It sounds like a whole range of 'normal' to me. Bubs is probably 1) sitting on your sciatic nerve, 2) engaging, 3) turning and has his shoulder in an uncomfortable place... and either way you are probably stretching down there to accomodate. It may also be UTI but I doubt it.

Just an update. Saw doctor today and she is not worried at all and said many of her pregnant patients complain of the same issue. She is pretty sure it is being caused by bubs starting to descend into the pelvis which is putting pressure on the area. Also he may be on the bigger side too (currently measuring 33 weeks )

Measuring 33 weeks or 33cm? And that's not too far ahead, it could just be his position today... we hope
Unfortunately the aches from here-on-in generally are "good" signals

33 weeks = 30cm so you're inbetween 30-33. I wouldn't be worried at all, both measurements are give or take 2 weeks/2cm anyway.
In the last 10 weeks my measurements jump a bit so at 33 weeks my measurement jumped up but then stayed the same for two weeks, and then it happened again.

I was wondering if that would happen to me as well.
Also I have jsut realised, no pain today. I did get great pains when he did a huge movement last night so think he has moved from where he was.

Hi there i'm quite new to this but yea i had that with my first also bad cramps in my legs and i got it now i am 36 weeks pregnant my first one is 18 months now i think its something to do with baby's head pushing on the pelvis bone which usually dialates your cervix. I get so bad i can hardly sleep at night too i'm tried croughing excercises or holding on to things and kneeling holding it a still position while my partner rubs my back and thighs its just basically all to do with the weight of the baby but my midwife suggested magnesium sulphate i haven't had the time to go get it so i don't know what it is like plus i don't think i would need now coming close to giving birth hope my advice helps also walking does the trick.
