Topic: Women with Endometriosis who fall pregger Posted: 27 October 2006 at 12:49pm |
Hi!
Just wanted to post a new forum - wanting to chat with other mums to be who have endometriosis in the past and have had surgery for it (once or more)
I'm 25, Ive had 4 ops for the Endo - last one last September 2005 and I fell pregnant August 2006 after 10 months of trying.
My o/b says that due to scarring, I may never be abl eto have clear scans? And the usual pulling and streching of your stomach muscles is more intense.
Is there anyone else there in the same boat as me? Just wanting to compare stories and wanting to know if there is any other things that I should be worried about??
THANKs!

Hi Giselja
Congratulations on your pregnancy. That is exciting.
I had one surgery for endometriosis about four years ago and am now 39.5 weeks pregnant. I know I read a few things early on in my pregnancy that made me a bit scared but things have been absolutely fine. I had an early scan (at seven weeks) to make sure it wasn't an ectopic pregnancy and that was all fine. If you are ten weeks now you are obviously fine with that.
I had also heard that the stretching of the stomach muscles can be more intense but that wasn't the case for me or also for two friends who had successful pregnancies after endo ops. My midwife referred me to a specialist at about 29 weeks to talk about that and she completely reassured me that it is nothing at all to worry about. I think she thought it was crazy I was even having an appointment with her!!! She said endo is only a problem for stopping you get pregnant but once you are pregnant it doesn't make any difference. My original surgeon (who did my op) told me the same thing.
I think just make your midwife aware of it (which you've probably already done) but don't worry about it.
All the best for a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Hi there
I had surgery July 2005,the endo was found in alot of places, the specialist told me to start trying for a family sooner rather than later, I decided in February to come of pill and give my body a rest and take the pain killers the doctor gave me when things got bad, and on 30 April 2006 hello i'm pregnant, my wee mircle baby!!! :)
The first 4 months were rough they found some cysts so they decided to play up, and yes there were alot of cramps pulling and stretching and my M/W said it was due to scar tissue, all is well now though pains everynow and then, once shes born, I going to wait and see what happens and might transfer to the Oxford Clinc. Theres not many specialists to choose from in Invercargill!!!
Take Care
Cherie:)

Hi there
I have had 2 ops now for endo and I also have PCOS on both ovaries and I have been told that I would have great troubles in getting pregnant and I would probably only have 1 miracle pregnancy. Well i'm half way through my second one now. I only had 2 incissions with my first surgery (belly button and hairline) and had no troubles with scans - infact I was having 2 a day in the last few days of my 1st pregnancy. I have just had my 20 week scan and the woman doing the scan had no trouble finding bubs it was only him being a pain and not moving to get in the right position to have all his bits seen.
If you do have problems with scans then they will get ther person in charge (usually the chief sonographer) to do the scan.

Hey there, I had endo surgery in april 04 (3 incisions)and we fell pregnant in november (honeymoon baby )
I am currently pregnant again and the ladys that do the scans have had no problem doing the scans what so ever and didnt find the scars cause any extra pain - I guess no more then usual anyway, Id ask if there was someone else to try to do the scan if the first person is finding it hard.
Ive actually never heard of it causing a problem
Good Luck
Trish

Heya i had my 2nd Endo surgery in September 04 and was also diagnosed with PCOS, i tried for a year before going on clomid and getting pregnant with Miss Ella Grace. I have 8 incision scars on my stomach and my scans were very clear.
I had a rough pregnancy with adhesion issues from the surgery but am now a box of birds
Good Luck

Hi,
I had endo and operated on about 3 years ago and thought it would be really hard to get preggy but was totally shocked at how easy it was (first time with no condom!) - so am now 4 weeks and still getting used to it! ek!
