Hi
I just wondered what is the best thing to store soiled cloth nappies in before washing them?
Our laundry is in the garage, so it would be more convienient to store them in the house (prob in babies room).
Do you really not need to soak them?
If not soaking, do you need a bucket with a tight fitting lid to stop any smell?
I was thinking about getting a step rubbish bin with a removable bucket for carrying the naps to the wash - is this a stupid idea? (would need to make it child proof eventually).
You really don't need to soak them. Just get a nappy bucket with a good fitting lid and store them in your bathroom or whereever you want to have them.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
Hi we just have a bin with a flip lid. I rinse pooey ones in the laundry tub first, I generally wash them the same or next day though so they don't really have a chance to get smelly. Oh and I disinfect the bin once a week to keep that smelling fresh
i have a pedal bin...it doesnt have a lid anymore cause toby stood on it and broke it. and having the inner removable is great for carrying the nappies and for cleaning it out.
I got a pedal bin from the warehouse. It is a 20l one and was about $20. It is stainless steel looking. I tend to throw the soiled naps in there and wash them at the end of the day. I put a flannel in the bottom with a couple of drops of tea tree oil on it and his whole room smells mildly tea tree oilish!! Much better than damp nappy which was the smell that was starting to form
I have a black rubbish bin from the warehouse that also has a lockable lid (great for nosey toddlers!) and it also has a ridged bottom so I can put drops of tea tree oil in the bottom without the oil getting on the nappies (Go the Red Shed! lol)
Personally, I wouldn't want to keep used nappies in the nursery Perhaps just outside the door?
