HCG is the hormone that your body produces only when u pregnant. When people have had probs trying to concieve or had m/c, they tend to have regular blood tests at the beginning to check that the levels are increasing like they should do when all is good with the pregnancy.

Hi ladies ,
Well im now booked in for a scan on the 23rd of november to make sure all is ok so hopefully we can see a heartbeat by then - il be 6.5 weeks by then.
Do any of you ladies know whether its safe to get a smear when you are pregnant???, my doc gave me 1 the yesterday because i was due for one before i got pregnant and when i asked her she said that its perfectly fine and they even do vaginal scans!!! which sit on the cervix so there wouldnt be such a thing if they werent safe...but i was so sure that i had been told that smears were a no no in pregnancy?????.....

Yep, I had smear when I was preg with Maya. Didn't have one this time as I wasn't due for one. And also had an icky internal scan. You should see the heartbeat by 6 1/2 weeks, but they may even need to do an internal to get a decent pic. I had an internal at 9 weeks when they discovered the twins.
