Topic: Tiredness??? Posted: 07 September 2006 at 2:58pm |
Just wondering from other people experience did anyone have the 2nd trimester tiredness. I'm about 16 weeks - probably more and the past few days I have been as tired as I was in the first few weeks. I have my scan booked for beginning of October and I know it is quite late as i'll be more than 20 weeks. Also does anyone have any ideas for the tiredness, Andrew is in daycare at the moment due to my study commitments so he's not tiring me out. Could I possibly have more than one in there??

i was really really tired for a long time too, probably only been in the last month that i have started having energy again. just do your best to get early nights, and eat well to try to help you out. i started taking a preggy vitamin which also i think helped.

Becks I was a lot tireder with the subsequent littlies than the first, I see you have a toddler to wear you out too Talk to your midwife if you're concerned but I'd say that you're probably doing more than you think. Rest up, eat well, hopefully you'll get a break in the coming weeks

Becks I found that too.. coupling study with motherhood is no easy feat.. then add another wee leech inside you sucking that last little bit of energy you have.. and TIREDNESS just invades your life.
It took me forever to get over it.. It was there from 8 weeks, with a little reprieve of a couple of weeks around 25 weeks, then about 28 weeks it kicked back in, and SPD followed soon after. It lasted up until long after i had Ayja.. as she was not a great sleeper (in fact, it creeps up on me sometimes when she is being more wakeful than usual.. is still waking 2 times a night anyway). I think after a while you learnt to function even if you are clearly in sleep debt.
All you can do is sleep, rest up a bit more (especially with that BP!!) and Make Nigel run after Andrew when he's not in daycare(andrew that is. lol)

I've noticed that I am more tired now than I was at all in the first trimester. I have started going to the pool three times a week though so have put it down to that. I yawn all the way through bedtime stories with Christopher at 7.50 and find it incredibly difficult to get up off his bed and make it to my own in time to coma out for the night be 8.05!!

Well I've been tired the whole way thru, but there ARE two in here...
Your midwife should be able to get some idea by measuring your tummy. At 16 weeks I was measuring 4-5 weeks ahead, and by 20 weeks I was measuring 8 weeks ahead - things grow much faster in there! I'mnow 32 weeks and measuring at 42+ (and feeling every inch of it!)
Can you bring your scan forward?

I wish I could bring it forward, but its the only time that DH and the specialist can be there together. I see my MW next Thursday and will have a chat with her. If I drop a paper it may help, so i'll see what she says. If I drop the paper I need her to ok it as I would have to do a fee appeal to get my fees back and not get a DNC (did not complete) on my academic record.

I saw my MW today and apart from lacking big time in Iron my platelets are way down again. She told me to sleep when I want to and maybe dropping a paper might help. So i'm going to investigate the dropping of a paper and see what I have to do, I got a medical cert from her today so i'm going to email my paper coordinator for the classes I have today and advice him I won't be at the compulsory computer lab (he knows i'm pregnant and will be sweet with the fact I can't be there) and work out which paper I want to give up.

Mind you i have never in my life been as tired as i have since i got pregnant....Im exhausted!

am sure you prob already do this.. but take them with a large glass of orange juice to help aid absoption - i used to take mine at night time with meals so it was a real boost. also, Calcium can stop the absorption.. so try and avoid taking it with milky anything.. ie breakfast, cuppas, etc.. a if possible none an hour either side (hard i know) but yeah. Making sure you are getting enough B12 at the same time can help too.

Thanks Janine, I have now stopped DH drinking my juice so there is enough for me in the morning to have my tablet with it. After much debate in my head as to which paper to drop I finally decided today which one and have now done it. Hopefully it will make things a lot easier only doing 3 papers. And now only 2 weeks and 2 days till my scan!!!
