Topic: Nesting - fact or fiction?? Posted: 15 September 2006 at 12:55pm |
I'm seriously thinking in my case it is fiction!!
Here I am looking around the house with 3 days until my due date...and there is no motivation to do anything more than make sure there is room on the couch for me to plant my butt and watch the talk shows, keep the house tidy and make the meals....that's it!
I do not think I will be one of those cleaning the skirting boards!! Maddie's room is all good to go so that is the main thing!
Anyone else suffering from nesting or a lack thereof?

I wasn't a nester with Maya. Willie cleaned the house while I was in hospital after she was born coz it was a pigsty.
The house is cleanish this time round - but I'm cheating really coz I have a cleaner. And haven't experienced any real desire to nest. I keep thinking of things to do like clean out Maya's toy boxes, and then never actually do them...
I think I'll have a nap instead...

I AM A CLEAN FREAK! HAHA! Started about 28 weeks and is still going nearly 2 weeks after... Even the nappies soaking in the bucket- I'm waiting and waiting but man I wish they soaked alot faster. I can't stand the thought of them being in there soaking for a day or 2. I just want them clean and now!!!
Must depend on the person huh?

Oh yeah, I was a nester after she was born. I used to put her in an outfit for a couple of hours then wash it even tho it was still clean, and wash her towel evey time she used it etc. And spray all the benches with antibacterial stuff, and sterilised thousands of bottles even tho I didn't ever bottle feed... maybe the morning sickness finally being gone after the birth gave me more energy, or maybe it was just boredom in between feeds and changes (before the days of OHbaby!)

I am about to see if I get the whole "nesting" thing when my leave starts at the end of today. I have a few things that I can think of that I need to do/finish before baby comes along. I guess I am generally a clean freak and when I see something lying around will tidy it up but who knows what may happen after baby is born - I may go completely opposite and not care ha ha

I've been a real nester through pregnancy (partly because there's been a lot to do to get ready for bubs). More tidying and gathering things we'll need than cleaning, though. But I'm gonna hopefully try your approach closer to my due date, Paws. I rekon it's more important to be rested before going into labour than have clean floors.

i never really nested like that, in the last 2 weeks though for some reason i made loads and loads of muffins. i froze heaps and gave heaps to neighbors and friends. i'm really not sure why, maybe that was my way of nesting.

I'm starting to "nest" now... I moved the bassinet into our room yesterday (which also involved finishing the organising job I started a couple of days ago) and I'm making all these plans for things to do... like stock the freezer with baking and meals

hmmmm nope I havent had any urge what so ever to clean or nest... even in my boredest moments the thought of scrubbing or re-arranging or whatever else nesters do hasnt crossed my mind... our house is generally fairly tidy though, not like super clean, but ok...so maybe thats why? or maybe I am jsut a tad lazy LOL... who knows...?

I wasn't a nester until about 2 days before Joey was born... I thought it had bypassed me too

Does hiring people to clean the house count? I have VIP cleaning due here at 10am tomorrow for a mega(expensive) spring clean......

I was a big time nester with Andrew. I was baking up a storm even thou I was meant to be on bedrest. I cleaned to whole place including the oven while I was meant to be on bed rest. With this one i'm hoping I do and its of the building type so that we can have our new kitchen in before this one comes along.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

The only reason I "nested" (read: used a million bottles of Mr Muscle OxyAction) was because I couldn't get enough of the smell... does go some way to explaining why Han is so weird.

Oh yeah...the smell of the bathroom after the Janola cleaner has been used is bliss to me...of course I don't do the cleaning...I leave that to hubby so I'm not sure that counts as nesting!

I dont know if this counts as nesting but I loved grocery shopping when I was pregnant - I used to buy things on special just because they were on special. I really enjoyed stocking up on things and seeing the pantry full of food. I still do actually quite like grocery shopping.
A few friends did really weird cleaning right before their baby came - like polishing sliver and cleaning windows.
