it is a great day here aye!! so much better than yesterday
we got our capsule from babycare rentals in burwood. they are just around the corner from the hospital. i think it's $20 bond and about $10/mth to hire them, maybe worth a try if you haven't already

The Baby Factory hires them out, too. I guess they do it all over the country, not just in Palmy.

Have you tried the Plunket?? We ended up buying a capsule with base from Baby Factory on sale about 1 month ago as we thought that if we were going to have 2 children it was worth while buying.

we didnt hire one, I brought one off trade me that had only been used for 6 mths, still had box and receipts plus it had a base for the car and was only $60 which when you think about it is pretty much the same price as hiring one just for one baby but we have used it for two children now and could still sell it after cos it looks brand new.
if you dont want to buy one then i would recommend the burwood rentals or plunket.

the baby factory hire out and do bookings - best if you can go in person as they like to take details there and then and add you into the book - its $50 deposit and then i think $30 for six months. It is the pod with the base, and you get a choice of which ones. Not too sure if they hire out the pushchair type frame for the pods though....
Plunket also do the hires - are apparently much cheaper not sure about their deposit but they hire out all kinds of car seats up to boosters.

baby factory is expensive....
for a baby caspule with base it cost us $55 bond and $85 for 6mths.
if you can go through plunket it is so much cheaper

If you are going to have more children it can work out cheaper to buy one. We got ours for $149 in a Farmers sale and used it with Andrew and will use it with this one and in between those 2 my friend borrowed it for her baby. If you have friends or family that are thinking of having children then they could borrow it off you.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I agree about it working out cheaper in the long run to buy one, depending on how many kids you plan on having and how much you pay for the capsule. Being a bit skint on pinga's these days though, we're hiring!! Baby Factory here charges $60 rental for 6 months, and $45 refundable bond, but what I like about them is that they rent each capsule out twice, then get rid of it, so you know it hasn't been round 12 families already, and they cover professional cleaning of it after each rental, so you kow it's been cleaned good'n'proper.

oh and if anyone interested I saw an ex rental one in baby factory in rotorua this weekend for $75 - a good buy if anyone looking?
Have also just spent the weekend with a friend who has a 6 week old - we put pod in car with pram type wheels and never used it once except as a car seat - she went and bought a sling from BF and loved it and kept using that. At home she uses her stroller but ran out of room to put it in the car...

OK ignore my ramblings from further up in this topic... I went back into the Baby Factory and they rent out 3 times before selling the capsules off as ex-rentals ($75 to buy... dunno if they're all the same price or not), and it'll work out cheaper for us to buy one of these. It's worth going into the shop to ask what they've got, if you're not sure you'll be buying a brand new one. Seems safer than buying one off an unknown family, like on Trade Me or something, as you don't know if they've been in an accident, and they probably haven't been professionally cleaned.
