    Posted: 23 April 2006 at 11:47am
Hey Guys,

Well over the last few weeks Little Miss has decided that she hates getting changed - nappy, clothes, socks etc (and her hair done!) is this an age thing or is she slowly taking over the house? on a good day it takes about 10mins of her kicking and screaming to get her changed and dressed... she is 23 months on 2nd may so wondering if she ready for toilet training, if somehow the clothes irritate her or if she just being a litte "brat"?

Sounds normal for that age! She is figuring out her independence and that she can control the world

I remember that well... Josiah's at it now!

As for when Kiya did that, she was about the same age. I started giving her simple choices about what she could wear (these pants or those, this top or that) and she got a lot more cooperative.

Soundslike she is testing out her independance. try maybe picking 2 different outfits etc and giving her choices - that way she makes the final decision but you get what you want either way. also helps teach her to make decisions. also, try and time it so that something she really wants to do comes next.. eg, we dress paris BEFORE brekkie.. cos usually she is hungry and just wants to get dressed so she can have food. she has her hair done while watching hi-5 in the mornings and her hair ties are in a huge container that she gets to pick which ones she wants and then hold the container and plays with the rest while i do her hair too.

hope this helps - it will get better.

Ah that is exactly what I would have posted about 4 months ago :) not at all too early to start potty training- charlotte is 3 months older and pretty much fully trained during the day, still in night naps though.
We started training at about 21 months because she just kept taking her nappies off!

We started TT at 22 mths for the same reason - little Miss wouldn't keep her nappies on!

We also have getting dressed battles, but I've almost completely given up - I let her pick her own clothes out of the drawer, the only condition is that if it's a daycare day she picks them from the daycare drawer so she doesn't wear her good clothes to kindy and wreck them. Of course that means that 9 times out of 10 her clothes don't match, and I have to supress my OCD personality and say "you look pretty sweetie"

Sam is only 1 and we need a red bull 1/2 hour before we change/dress him because it is such a damn drama!!

Does that mean our battles are not going to ease up any time soon if you guys are still having drama at your age?

I laughed last night when I caught a glimpse of DH through the window (I was at the clothes line and he had just got Sam out of the bath)with Sam's bright orange Tigger pyjama bottoms on his head doing a dance to keep Sam focused whilst he put the nappy on!!!!

The things we resort to.............

*Secretly hoping the twins are boys so I can avoid the morning hair brushing drama by giving them baldy cuts*

lolol - i have a few dramas with Paris and a few times i have gotten soooo frustrated with her i have told her that if she is not going to stay still i will get the hairdresser to cut her hair short like daddy's. HAs only happened a few times but boy did it make her sit still and co-operate.. of course, was a huge lie.. how could i cut those curls.

when caitlyn runs off sometimes i just lie down and play dead (good excuse for 5min shut eye) and caitlyn gets curious and comes over to see if im really dead and i catch her by surprise and quickly undress her, then she'll run off again so i'll "die" again and when she comes back again i hold her between my legs and dress her.
Sucker.....
what lengths we go to....
Actually now caitlyn dresses herself so i just pick two outfits and she chooses one, i miss playing dead.

Arna ALWAYZ wakes up with a huge birdsnest in the morning no matter what I do (bath before bed or in morning, tie up at night or leave down, spray conditioner through it etc) and it is really frustrating! But the few times I can get her to sit still long enough it looks really nice!! Damn Children!
