as most of you know rhiannon was diagnosed as a possible lactose intolerant...

well we are thinking that isnt the case...she eats yoghurt, icecream, cheese and milk based products like smoothes and milkshakes when i have them.

she wont drink her peptic junior and she doesnt like bluetop milk...

but she just drank my glass of green top milk..now i know that at 13mths she shouldnt be having greentop..but my question is why? and is calcitrim okay (yellowtop)

I always though it was to do with the fat content (kids need fat), but I think it is because its easier to digest?? But we only have the light blue milk at our house now (well for now) and Andrew drinks that and we've had no problems.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

yer it the fat in the blue top milk that she needs it helps her brains grow try light blue and add the fat via cheese and yougart milk shakes and other ways if she wont drink the fatty milk.

I think if she won't drink blue-top milk, but will have trim, then trim milk is a very good idea for her!  As far as I know it's just because kids need a certain amount of good fats.  But if she's not gonna drink the stuff anyway, I don't see a problem with trim.  Especially when she eats cheese and yoghurt.

im wondering if its because i cant drink blue top...(well not plain anyway) i loath the taste...i even get all my hot chocolates and milkshakes and smoothies made with trim milk as i hate the taste of whole milk...and i drank bucket loads during my pregnancy

i might try her on calcitrim and she how that goes...or even the light blue and see what happens....hope i can buy them in small bottles

Kids need the extra fat in milk to develop. Also their brains need it quite a lot in the early years. I say go with the green if she drinks it. She gets more in that way than not.

Have you tried her again on bluetop in the last month? She may have grown out of an "infant intolerance".

some people who are lacotse intolerant can still eat yoghurt, cheese etc. Another milk to try is the sunlatte milk which is done differently I think and meant to be better for people whohave dairy probs. I'm not sure why it is ringing a bell...its just not that easy to get with good expiry dates.

What about soy milk. Our dietician said regular so good has basically the same amount of calcium as blue top cows milk, and has the fat that kids need as well. Is a bit more expensive than cows milk, but cheaper than pepti!

Jak and I are both officially now "lactose intolerant". No milk is no prob for me, as I hate it anyhow (cos it gives me sore tum) but the DR said that some lactose intolerants can have milk and cheese as it is paturised differently or somthing?? I kinda tuned out when he said if you having no reaction carry on... Jake is on Soy and no problems for him.
