Topic: Fertility Tourists Posted: 09 March 2007 at 10:07am |
There was a doco on Sky on the documentry channel on Tuesday NIght called fertility tourists. Did anyone else see it? What did you think? I so did not agree with the woman that was in her 60's that it was HER right at that age to have a child.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Didn't see it, but oh no ... no way would I want to bring a child into the world in my 60's - for a start where the hell would you get the energy from, and sorry, but at that age, you have less liklihood of seeing baby grow up

I think it is a bit selfish of her, those Babies will end up having to look after their mum while they are still kids instead of enjoying childhood..

I didn't see the doco and whilst in theory I don't agree with a 60 year old having a baby and it might seem impractical/selfish to us "young ones". Imagine what it would be like to have so many people say to YOU "no you can't have a baby".
Just my thoughts

I think there is a reason for menopause and no longer being able to have babies. Having a baby isn't just about the choice of the mother to have children, its about the rights of the child too.
My mum died at 60, I was 30 at the time and i still felt too young to be loosing my mum.

I watched that Doco!! I agree with you that woman who was almost 60 and wanting a baby was so wrong!! I think in her mind it was going to be like a doll a play toy she also very greepy to me and whats with the wig she was wearing???
I really felt for the couple who had lot their so much wanted preious little girl!! I know from personal experince what it is like to loose a child. It was so nice of them thou to donate the boy embryo to another couple struggling with Infertility.
I also didnt know that it was against the Islam Faith to do IVF I really felt for that Muslim Couple who wanted a sibling for the little girl they already had and so needed Donor Eggs and Sperm to get there much wanted baby.
Was a very interesting Doco. I have been thru IVF and Fertility and am still on my journey to Motherhood!
