Topic: Normal ... ? Posted: 07 August 2006 at 4:42pm |
I have been having some cramps really low in my tummy for a good few days, maybe about 4 days or so. I get them for a few minutes and then they go away - sometimes I need to go to the toilet when it happens sometimes I dont. I also get a lower back cramp when this happens. It really feels like period pain to be honest... It hasnt happened lots, maybe 6 times a day on the worst day, and baby seems to be moving around although she is much quieter than she has been for the past month or so...
Is this a growing pain or a ligament pain or what? It is definately low in my tummy and crampy and it is really sore (not like braxton hicks). Is this the niggles? (what exactly are the niggles by the way?) and do you think I shoudld call my midwife and tell her this has been happening? It is not as bad today, has maybe happened only once, but I have been sitting most of the day. and I dont think it could be anythign to do with labour cos it has carried on over the space of a bunch of days so surely its not that? Just wondering if anyone else has teh same or somethign similar?

Sounds similar to what I get but mine are Braxton Hicks. Might be worth a call to your m/w maybe?

I have been having much the same. Woke up last night with a burning all over my tummy...which came and went. Then have felt like this little man has dropped overnight and feeling so achey and like my cervix is being pinched every five seconds. Cant get comfortable sitting or lying. Happy to stand tho. Slept about an hour all up and went to the toilet 8 times.
I have had enough now!!!

hmm yes I do get braxton hicks, I have been feelign thiem since about 20 weeks, they dont really hurt me and I just get tight accross teh top of teh bump, this is a cramping down low so definately a different feeling - maybe it is teh pressure of the baby moving down on my bladder and bowels or something?

These sound more like the 'real' braxton hicks rather than the tightenings you had earlier. I've been getting them recently too - practice contractions. When they don't stop, class yourself in labour. Movements are still there but a lot less vigorous for my bump as well, I think he is running out of room. Note it down in your book to tell the midwife at your next appointment. If really concerned, she can always hook you up to a monitor to see exactly what is happening.

Yeah we figured mine were Braxton Hicks because I was getting them while hooked up to the monitor the other week...it was the midwife who confirmed they were Braxton Hicks. Painless practice contractions. *snorts*

yeah sounds exactly what I get. Like bad period pain which travels around to the back. It also feels like I need to go the toliet at times. Must be braxton hicks. It is very uncomfortable.

AH COOL - you guys are probably right - the braxton hicks I was getting are probably just teeny practice ones and now I am probably getting the big ones which is why they feel different maybe?!?!

I haven't felt anything like that? Not even little braxton hicks? Is that normal?

Some people don't get them/feel them so I wouldn't worry (and in fact be rather happy!!)...the ones I get are not always fun.

he he Syd I dont think it will mae a difference really -or think of it this way - if you dont even feel teh practive ones then maybe the real ones will feel LESS painfull cos you obviously have a high tolerance for contractiony thingys...?
