i hate akld weather - where is summer?
WE just found panels blown out of our fence by storm yesterday = HUGE 6ft tall, 6 foot wide painted (by me!) trellis panels and they ahve strained the blockwork so much that the columns are nearly collapsing....
Now we have to look at insurance! UGH.....
The thought of repainting those panels again hurts me already...it took a whole summer - think trellis, 12 panels...ugh ugh ugh...the fence is only just over a year old....
sorry i know its just a fence but i cant believe it has so much damage...

oh that sucks. I heard on the news you guys had a bad storm up that way, must have been pretty bad.
Maybe you should have a trellis painting bbq and get everyone to help and you provide a bbq for them, we did that at our last house on our fence and it was heaps of fun

Well, I had dramas yesterday after the storm, was cleaning up all the teatree branches and crap in the back yard that had come down and got a whiff of some smoke and saw there was a little fire happening in one of the tea trees in the reserve at the back of our property.

Then made the mistake of putting the fire out, as I then realised the reason why it was smouldering was because it was sitting on the power lines . So had a very eventful day of calling out two lots of firemen, getting the powerboard out and Treescape having a bit of mission on their hands to get the tree off the powerlines, they did not want to turn the power off as it would have taken out half of West Auckland. So I was told off my 2 firemen for putting out the fire (one was quite cute so that was okay), and was told several times that I am lucky to be here.

When the branch eventually came down, it was so warm on the inside having had 11000 volts pulsing through it. Sigh. Lucky I did not have much work and managed to cancel my one client for the day. At the end of it I felt like I needed a massage!

DH is trying to fix it but im not convinced it will work...the bricks look like they are about to collapse - he is handy but....

Yeah the storm was BAD...i stopped at kmart on way home (to buy mat bra!) and had to strain to hold onto handle getting in and out of the explorer or door would have hit car next door. When i got in truck i had to sit and wait for lady next to me to get in her car too...then i back out, and had to go real fast back as across the car park came flying a trolley, well it hit the car next to me. they looked at me like i had hit them but i pointed to trolley. she got out and the back of her car was dented. There was no way anyone would have wanted to try and stop the trolley either, it was going like 20 - 30ks in that wind! Then a Huge sign blew from road, up across top of carpark and over all the buildings...i drove straight home and went inside to get out of it! It was major out there....

Lets be fair though - I live in Auckland too and I spent last Saturday afternoon in my bikini on the beach sunbathing and it was awesome! We've had some pretty good weather lately, but I just think the rain and the wind sticks in peoples minds more. Here's hoping for a long hot summer!
