does anyone know much about what sort of levels could be expected. My HCG levels seem to be going through the roof and I am starting to wonder if there is more than 1.
At 19dpo the level was 1067
At 26dpo it was 18,173

That sounds insane to me!

Sarah, was it measured in mIU/ml? Cos it does seem really high. Had a quick look on the net and found this out:
Twins may produce an elevated level of HcG. However, the standard HcG level for twins also falls within the normal range for singletons.
At 19 DPO, the average HCG level is 303 mIU/ml, with a typical range of 111-514 mIU/ml.

So maybe?? I wonder what Emmas were at your stage?

that's normal - it tends to double, and double and so on... as far as i know that sounds about right for how far along you are.

well either or we are happy, and the high levels would account for how awful I have been feeling, but when she started telling me I couldn't believe it.

I think it is quite normal cos they do double every second day - so yours would have been:
19 days - about 1000
21 days - about 2000
23 days - about 4000
25 days - about 8000
27 days - about 16000 (which is in the range of 18000 cos I have just rounded up your numbers and they would be higher is we used the actual nuber to start with plus remember the rule is that they roughly double, they dont double exactly, so give or take some margin)
I remember when I was havin mine checked they seemed to sky rocket but when I sat down and worked out how they doubled it seemed more realistic -
high levels are a good thing! well done!

My HCG levels have never been measured. Where do you go to get them done? Can anyone get them done? I'm really curious to know if baby is OK as my tummy is flat as ever and I have had the mildest m/s ever and sometimes I think "hey! how do they even know there is really a baby in there?"

OK, so I dug out my hCG levels and they were:

at 14dpo 250-somthing
at 16dpo 714
At 5 weeks 5500
At 5 weeks 2 days 11,577
At 6 1/2 weeks 43,000.

Hope this helps. The 5 week one was about 20 or so days past O

Yummymumy you are way too early to be worrying abut the size of your tummy - the little bean inside you is sooo soooo small at the moment it would be impossible to notice it...
and mild M/S is ok. SOme people dont get it at all...

If you want to have your hcg levels measures you go to your doctor and they do a blood test - mine did one when i went there to confirm that I was pg and they didnt tell me what my levels were - just said the blood test came back positive..so I didnt even know that I had had miy hcg levels done (which I think is the case with some people like me who are new to this whole thing) but if you have had a blood test likely hood is they have already done it for you they just didnt tell you?!!?!

They actually don't usually do hCG levels as routine unless there is a history of m/c or problems, or sometimes to date a pregnancy (it's not terribly reliable for this tho as there is such a wide range of normal).
The bloods you have done at your first docs visit are just routine antenatal bloods which test your immunity to rubella, blood count, iron levels, blood type etc.

Thanks guys for the replies - I was wondering how come by GP did not mention hCG levels but at the time I did not even know to ask. It's funny - I look at my tummy in the mirror every day thinking "can there really be a baby in there?" - I mean where is it? I'm looking forward to when the belly starts sticking out at least a little bit.

It will come yummymummy... soon you will be like us and complaining that you cant do up your shoes in the morning or bend over to pick things up off the floor Lol! I think most people only find the earliest you start to see a little bump is about 14 weeks for a first timer... for me it was about 18 weeks or so...
