We stayed at a pretty decent serviced apartment in Manukau when we were in Auckland for a night before we flew home in October. Proximity Apartments. They upgraded us to a 2 bedroom as well (so C had his own room rather than cot in the living room). Right across the road from the mall and about 20 mins drive to the airport, if that.

Oh those apartments are nice! my friend used to clean there.
Theres not a heck places by the airport. Ive stayed here: http://www.aatravel.co.nz/main/listing.php?listingId=56002 and it was lovely. Stay away from the super cheap ones - airport skyway lodge is a good one to steer clear from, its crappy and really old and dirty!
good luck tho! :D

We've stayed at the Holiday Inn and the Jet Park Hotel, both were nice, the Jet Park is probably a little "flasher", but both are nice considering they are airport hotels (EG, we only stayed in them overnight as we had flown in late avo and we had a flight out early the next morning).

We've stayed at the Ventura Inn a few times and it's lovely.Nice and clean, modern rooms and you get a lovely free breakfast in the morning.I always recommend it to people wanting to stay around the airport area.

Hi, go to wotif.com and search there - its great, you get to see rates, photos, location etc. Once looking there if you see something you like just go to the hotel/motels own website just incase they are doing a better deal. I love wotif.com and use it heaps as I like to view before buying. I was looking a while ago and thought The Holiday Inn was nice.

Id recommend Ventura or Jet Park, I know people who have stayed in both and really liked them. There are a few food places around there aswell now, but too many shops so you wont be tempted

We stayed at a good place last year. Nice new beds. Didn't drive me nuts even though I was stuck there for 2 days solid!
It's on great south road in Remuera. All seasons. Reasonable rates & we got free breakfasts. http://hotels.bluecastle.co.nz/Remuera-Hotel-H144.htm
