Topic: I miss my maxy Posted: 27 December 2007 at 7:39am |
I know heaps of people think 'he was just a dog' but Im really struggling without my max here. Its like one of my children are gone. Its things like putting out the washing, i normally have 3 followers but now i only have 2. Im constantly looking for him then remember he isnt here and its like a punch in the stomach again. Im also struggling with the fact it was my decision.
I know i have to just give it some time and thanks for letting me vent. Everyone acts like i should be glad he is gone cos its easier but Im not.

Aw you poor thing....I so completely understand what you're going through. I (literally)lost my beautiful cat 8 weeks ago- she just disapeared one day and never came home, depite out very best efforts in searching for her . It's like losing a member of the family, it really is. I hope it gets easier to deal with as time goes on because it's not very easy right now. Like you, every time I turn around I expect to see her there- she was like a little shadow around the house.
I don't know what to say to you to make it feel better hun. I do know I almost envy you a bit with the fact that at least you know what happened to your dear boy....not that that makes it easier at all...just that maybe there's closure there? And that you would've made the BEST decision you knew. I just feel I'm in a state of limbo...don't know if my girl is alive or dead, hurt or has a new home somewhere. All I can try and console myself with is that I gave her a great home while she was with me...something I'm sure you did for Maxy too.
I don't think the pain ever goes in a situation like this, just softens a bit with time. I'm really sorry for your loss though.

*hugs* I know what its like, 2 years ago today, just as we were about to leave for a camping trip, we were looking for one of my 3 cats that hadn't come in for breakfast that morning. We thought he was away 'exploring' or got himself locked in somewhere. I went to move our spare car off the road and as I reversed Bruce was under the car (already dead) as he mustve been hit by a car and then ran under there and died.
Its so hard losing a pet and everyday I worry if one of our other two (mum and son) don't come in at night or in the morning that the same thing will happen to them.
Pets are definately part of your family. Its so true for me that I think I was more upset when my cat died, compared to my grandmother! (But thats probably cos I was much closer to him...)
Big hugs, remember the good times and think, when you're putting out the washing that your dog is still there in spirit!!!

Hi Robyn, I can't say much to help take away the feeling of loss but I was thinking of you the other day while driving over that side of town wondering how you are doing. Hope it gets better soon for you and you are just left with happy memeroies.

I just wanted to say 18 months ago we put our beloved Maxxy(max) down too and it still sucks every day without him..we got him cremated and got him a wine barrel and some plants and buried his ashes in there..but we still have his pictures everywhere and miss him everyday..people are just trying to be nice as you know when they say it was kinder to put him down but for me it was like when i had my m/c and people told me it was for a reason..i didn't care if that was true i just wanted my baby back and the same with MAxxy (still...:( )

I would be devasted if I had to put down one of my dogs or my cats. Even though it was the right decision it doesn't stop you feeling stink about it, they really are a part of the family.

im sorry for your loss chick
Why should it be strange to be upset when an animal dies? pets give so much of themselves to us and love us unconditionally, they deserve us to be upset if they go, I know if my dog died id be guttered, and its not like I havent dealt with death of people i love this year, I would still be heartbroken, shes my other baby, just with a lot of fur
