sweet but as I tell hubby, I take no responsibility should anyone be electrocuted! surely that wouldnt happen though cos dont they make blankets safe for kids and sometimes they wet the bed so it would have to be able to withstand that

i think it has to be a general standard they are made to unless its really ancient in which case I would be dodgy about using it anyway. has anyone starting taking a towel to sit on in the car?

I love my electric blanket too much to take it off, especially now ! But right now I often wake up sweaty during the night, so could never bear sleeping with it even on low, and always turn it off before I actually doze off. Nonetheless, just to preserve it I guess, I will eventually get around to putting some towels down or something...

lol it's perfectly normal to worry about all that kinda stuff, i put a couple of towels under the sheet in the last few weeks both times, and once i had my show with Paris about 5 days before i had her, then i put a folded one on top of the bottom sheet as well, which was just as well, because i had just got back from the loo, lay down in bed and felt a pop, and when i sat up leaked everywhere, but onto the towel, yay. it gave me something to carry with me till i could get to the bathroom again and put a pad on.   however, none of that happened with Ayja.    It always pays to remember that usually you'll have some other signs of labours first, contractions, a show, cramping, all that kinda stuff - only around 10% of women get their waters breaking as the very first, (surprise!!!!lolol) sign of labour. chances are, you'll get some clues first to alert you that maybe a few extra towels on the bed might be a good idea.

ask ur midwife for this green plastic thing for the car and u cud probably put that in ur bed as well. They use them in old people hospitals so when they wet the bed it doesn't ruin the mattress. They are also good for after bubs is born so u don't bleed everywhere.
