Topic: Advice Please!! Posted: 12 June 2006 at 6:10pm |
Would you name your baby after your dog which is still alive but has moved to a farm to run and be free because he was such an escape artist and would find his way over 1.8metre fences and off to the beach for the day!!And cause Mum to have small heart failures!!!
He was a beautiful Golden Retriever and we miss him to bits.....We still have our other Goldie Charlie who is our baby too!!
His name was OSCAR?????
Whaddya think?

Well, on one hand we ditched the name Madison because of the cat, but she's still around so we didn't want to traumatise either cat or bub ! LOL But since Oscar isn't around, what the kiddo doesn't know won't hurt him, right ?

Friends of ours have had a pet "Jack the cat" for ages... then, after 2 girls, #3 was a boy that they named Jack... and yes, the cat is still around!

Oscar is a cool name - like Oscar de la Renta (nice smelly stuff) - and your Oscar is going to way out-do the other Oscar. If you think about it, Oscar the dog was a loved family member - so you are picking another name for a loved family member. Go for it!

kelly.....we have such similar tastes it's so funny!!
we have a goldie (our big baby) and i would never name our child after him...as his name is clyde
our wee man is jack, its a great name the neighbours dog is jack too.
also, the name we have given this bubs is ........charlie oscar
hehehehehe
i say go for it, it's a great name! if this bubs is a girl, which i doubt, she will be named zoey. my parents have a pup called zoey and i don't mind if they share the name

My Sister has a dog called Oscar too. It's a cool name, but I don't think I could name a child after an animal. My dog is called Brody and a friend of ours called their son Brody. Up to the individual I guess. I know another dog named Riley, and I kinda like that name for a boy.

Oscar is a really nice name and I wouldn't worry that your dog has the same name and like you say you don't see him

I thought I was named after the dog next door for ages and it didn't traumatise me (middle name teresa). Turns out I was wrong, but I only found that out 8 years ago.

My husband's family had a dog called Zac when he was a child so he didn't want to call Zac,Zac...but I won (as I always do!!!).
I have always loved the name Riley for a boy...but that is now my surname!!

I think the name Oscar is cool. I also think that naming after one of your pets is also great. I was going to name my girl (but not having a girl, lol) after my Grans dog Taylah. She passed away. The only thing was everytime I said the name I pictured her, lol. Oscar is a great name. I like it.
