Topic: Twin Births Posted: 07 May 2009 at 11:10am |
This is mainly for my own curiosity and I wanted to catch the eye of any twin mums who don't post in the twin mums thread (if there are any)....
Can you tell me how far along you were when your bubs were born, and were they identical or fraternal?

36 weeks 5 days, they are the same type of twins as yours (mono/di). They generally like to induce around 37-38 weeks with mono/di twins as the placenta starts to deteriorate after that.
And they were both born vaginally 3 minutes apart.

37.5 days with fraternal twins, born naturally. I always laugh when I say they were born naturally, I mean they were but I had a lot of drugs to help with the pain which is not so natural! I was induced

LOL Linda, that's why I always say vaginally, not naturally. There was nothing natural about the gremlins delivery, there were a dozen people there, I was induced and had an epi.

37 weeks by planned c/section. Presenting twin Esme was breech they are the same as Emmas girls they are Mono/Di (identical). I was told by the specialist that if they are planning a c/section for mono/di twins they don't plan it for anything over 37 weeks.

Hrmmm, you're all a lot further along than what I expected!!! I'm just trying to get my head around things....I haven't had any real problems so far except both girls having enlarged kidneys at the 20w scan, which I have a follow-up scan for in a few weeks.

My sister was 38 weeks planned c/section with frat twins.
Obviously though with mono/di twins you've got the high risks of TTTS. Theres a few ladies on OB that had mono/di arrive much earlier than expected.

My OB told me the girls would be born between 32-36 weeks, even he was surprised when they stayed in so long (we were induced coz I was soooo over it!), they would probably have lasted another few days if we'd left them alone but I was 4cm dilated at induction so it wouldn't have been much longer before I went into labour.

My OB has suggested 32 weeks might be about right to plan for.....I honestly don't know how I would get around if I were any later and they keep growing like they are!!! I already have trouble getting up and putting my socks on...!!!!
