    Posted: 06 March 2006 at 1:09pm
I'm having one of those horrible days where I'm exhausted and just want a day off. I was going to apply for Friday but was told no right off so ended up locking myself in the toilets crying.

I'm got Thursday off now which is better than nothing though I would have loved a long weekend.

I know it's horrible but we have one girl here who is sick with a particular ongoing illness and it feels like everyone falls over themselves to make sure she has time off and reduced hours etc etc. Now don't get me wrong I'm not asking for special treatment like that. However it would be nice if some would consider that I do get very tired, I've done 2 weekends of over time in a row so worked 2 lots of 6 day weeks.

But the attitude seems to be that because I'm pregnant and we wanted this I just have to put up and shut up. I can't help but feel that weather I'm tired because I've been up and down 5 times during the night or because I've got an illness...it's still someone being run down so why do I deserve less understanding?

Anyway, sorry for the rant...I don't know if I am being unreasonable or not. All I do know is that I'm very tired, frustrated and emotional!

I know exactly how you feel. About four weeks ago i had really bad morning sickness, all i was told was that i was not sick and that think of everyone else sitting there feeling just like i did (that was from my loving mother) I have managed to two half days off. I still come to work and have days like i am today where i am just totally in the air and don't do much work. But i don't have any sick days or annual leave so all i can do is live with it. I did cry this morning because i didn't want to come to work which i feel like doing again

Oh I so don't miss that part of pregnancy. I really feel for you guys. YOu have a right to feel sh*ty regardless of whether you wanted to fall pregnant or not. Paws if your work can be so accomodating to this other lady then I can't see why they are not a little more understanding. Carry a baby has to one the the hardest things for a human body to do. Big big hugs and I hope things get better for you soon.

just to look at it from the other point of view and not being horrible - from an employers pint of view asking for fri off on mon is a bit on the nose...and for years pregnant women have been saying that were only pregnant not sick we can do everything still.
dont do the weekend work, take it easy, and do expcect to feel upset and tired. your body is doing something incredible.

I wish I could avoid the weekend work...unfortuately unless I'm dying I have to work, we all have to do saturday shifts and because 3 people are exempt it puts more pressure on the rest of us.

I'm still the person who is expected to go out and do the banking and collect the DX (Mail) which is often heavy and large orders of brochures because everyone else is too lazy.

I'm trying to take it easy but it is very hard in this office.

I can understand it from an employeers point of view but to be honest I was hurt that she said she might need a day off to move house and that was more important.

I think also I'm just so sick of people here telling me how I'm getting too big, too fat, just have to deal with it, and the endless list of other stuff even though half them don't have kids.

I don't know...maybe it is just me.

But you're not fat at all !! Far out, I know you can certainly feel pretty podgey at your stage hun coz I did too, but from what I saw at the zoo you have nothing to worry about. Aaaanyway, I know how you feel as well as far as the bit about how "understanding" people sometimes *aren't*. As Toni_akl can testify from all my ranting and raving at her, I was given the impression that I just had to grin and bear it when I was having my morning sickness, mostly because I had just started and they were still training us up. So no time off there for me either I still haven't had any other days off since then, only what has been needed for scans or midwife appointments etc, and even then it's never a whole day.

As most of you will be aware, this is almost the same way that I came to hate the word "normal" !! (Although that ultimately was a result of my last visit with my midwife... )

In a nutshell hun, it's not just you *hugs*
