Yeah I do struggle to come to terms with the idea that things that have never made me sick in almost 30 years could now be dangerous...I keep telling myself it will all be worth it... (and no one is allowed to visit baby when he/she comes without bringing sushi! )

Hi
I am craving sushi as well. That and shellfish and coffee (which I want all the time). I still have a cup or two a day, but since i cant have it i want it all the time. I also want coke all the time too - same reason I suppose.
I did some research on the cheese thing, and my understanding is that Brie and Camembert are a no no because they may be made with unpastuerised milk, however if you buy NZ made they are fine, as if its made in NZ it has to be pastuerised. It often says on the lable whether it is or not.

Hey ErinC my partners sister had coke the whole way through as well and baby was fine. Also just after she had given birth the midwife asked her if she wanted a drink and she had coke then as well.
Yea i thought it was just the "soft and fancy" cheeses like brie etc.

Hi
Thats good to know about the caffine, but I'm still trying to eliminate it completely by the time the baby is born, because I know that I get really cranky when I dont get my morning coffee, and I dont want a cranky baby right from the start because he has caffine withdrawls.

Lu, it's not that coffee isn't allowed from what I've established, it's just that you should cut down your intake if you drink it alot - as they say there are studies that link high caffeine consumption to low birth weight etc.
I still have a cup or two most days, but not every single day, and my midwife said that it was fine... gotta have *something* to kick start my day !

Oh yeah, as far as I know, you're still allowed coffee, but i used to drink a lot of it, so I'm trying to cut right back, but the less I have the more I want!
