Topic: Not as fat as I thought !! *chuckle* Posted: 02 January 2006 at 5:39pm |
So today I decided to face my greatest fear - the scale !! My cousin has a nice electronic one, and even though it measures in lbs. (pounds) I just divided it by 2.2 to get the equivalent in kgs. And yeah, I'm not exactly a model type, or afraid to confess my weight - at least not online anyway Before I got pregnant I was probably about 74.5kgs, and am 76.8kgs now - which means I've only gained a total of 2.3kgs !! I was amazed, as I've been feeling REALLY porky lately. My diet hasn't totally gone downhill, I try and get in as much healthy stuff as I possibly can, but I don't worry too much about what I eat, how much and when (I was trying to lose weight before so I was a lot stricter on myself).
I'm going to have to get a handful more of maternity clothing items, mostly some pants, because as I mentioned in my reply to another post I had to throw out an old (and very well loved) pair today. I also gave up on another pair a few days ago, as I couldn't do them up !! So far I've got one grey pair for work, and one normal pair of black ones for work that will hopefully last. What I'm planning to get is a pair of black pants, and a pair of jeans, and that should do the trick when I'm not slouching around the house in my trackies.
I don't think I'll buy any maternity clothes in NZ - so expensive, and especially compared to here. The range is fabulous as well !! But I'll shut up now, hehehe
Anyway, here's to the fabulous shape of the pregnant body, and the wonderful things it does !!

2.3kg is pretty good!! I always end up losing weight being pregnant. I guess I'm so much more careful about what I eat, eating lots more fruit and veges.

I would've been scared if I kept losing weight after I found out - all I hear is that you MUST gain etc etc. Mind you, it varies ALOT from person to person, I have a feeling things are going to be pretty typical for me. One friend of mine in Aussie only gained 4kgs !! She was overweight, but not THAT overweight, and was still healthy - baby came a *little* early and that was it. I've also heard about women not gaining anything at all during the first trimester, then putting on anywhere from 3-4kgs per month from then on.

I've put on 2.1kgs so far - lost 10kgs from being so sick for the first 20 weeks!! My midwife keeps harassing me to try and gain more weight, but I'm eating as much as I can!! I only really want healthy stuff - and the occasional apple pie or cheesecake.... I've put no weight on round my face or upper body (except my ENORMOUS boobs ) but I have a pretty big bump now - look like I've swallowed a pumpkin!!

i think i became more aware of my diet when i was pregnant. I was a lot more careful with what I ate. Especially with jake as my blood pressure was high and they weren't going to let me fly home if it continued. I fixed that this time by not going to the dcotor. God knows how much I've put on now.

I'm staying well clear of the scales at the moment - I was all signed up with a personal trainer to lose 10kg just before I found out I was pregnant - managed to loose 4kg and then my P.T and GP told me to stop the routine - which is fair enough, no point killing yourself on a treadmill 5 days a week when you're going to put heaps of weight on anyways with the pregnancy. I think it's a mental think for me - all that hard work wasted (I LOATHE gyms!)
Besides that, it's very obvious that I've put on weight when I look in the mirror and have this gorgeous little bump sticking out! Very proud of my bump

I put on 18 kgs wih Hannah!! Too many pies! Only got 6 left to go Oh well. Toni - I had just lost 10kg before I found out I was pregnant. A bit gutted to be back at square one but definitely worth it.

For some reason I seem to have 'popped' early !!! There's absolutely no mistaking that I'm pregnant now (unless I've got my bulky winter coat on and stuff, being in Canada). I didn't know I *could* show so "well" so early LOL Went to a mall and found an AMAZING maternity store, bought all the rest of what I should need, and a couple of things just because they look nice :P Even the normal pants that I thought would last a while longer are starting to annoy me, when I sit down the waistband would roll down and be uncomfortable when I stood back up again. I'm actually worried a little bit about how people might react when I get back to NZ as it will be far more distinct - you couldn't really tell at all when I left.
Anyway, enough of my moaning !
