Ok so I know that they say back to sleep etc. However I did this with Alan and he has a flat head its not so obvious so he has hair etc, but to me it is still noticeable. So when we had Mikey his nana said put him on his side so we did and he has this lovely shaped head. Now cause I know it is ment to be safer to put baby on their back I am a little unsure what to do this time i am leaning toward's a side baby again.   Arhg I hate that there are so many conflicting thing's.

Maybe for the first few weeks you should put her to bed on her back....If you want her sleeping on her side you could always get a sleep wedge?

I always put Cooper to bed on his back, but he always ended up on his side.

funnily enough the baby whisperer believes in side sleeping...

if bub is wrapped and properly supported then side sleeping should be ok... but you can do other things to prevent flat head..

Mine were all back sleepers as babies, funnily enough the big three now all sleep on their tummies lol.

Yep we side slept Harry when he was really little (newborn), with a wedge though and wrapped tightly. It also made me worry less cos he used to be very spilly. As he got older he just moved his head round himself and alternated sides, so we started just putting him on his back.

I always put my girl on her back and yes she did get a flat head and looked really horrible but now that she is sitting up and not spending 17 hours on her back the back of her head is looking a bit more normal.

she does roll over onto her tummy during her day sleeps

I side slept all my babies, was scared of flat heads choking etc. Alize settled better on his back so was changed to back from a few weeks onwards but I used a lot of tummy time during his awake times to help prevent flat head.

I side slept Charlotte after the first few weeks because she slept better that way. I used to put a rolled up nappy on one side and a warm pump bottle on the otherside (it was winter) and she slept much better like that. She still side sleeps so it really was her preferred way to sleep.

Side slept with a wedge and he has a lovely head. I was a bit like arohanui tho and worried less with him on his side as he was also quite spilly.

Back slept my first but we side sleep Liam and he seems to sleep better that way, although we have tried him on his back and he doesn't mind that either now, but sometimes he settles alot better on his side.

Both my boys were back sleepers with their heads turned so it wasn't facing up in the air. When they could move they both went to tummy sleepers.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

When she was little Ella slept on her back and never had any problems with a flat head. Now she sleeps either on her side or her tummy

We alternated between side and back, Spencer was born looking only one way so we saw a chiropractor to get his neck aligned and would sleep him on his none favoured side to try and correct it. Once that was sorted we mostly slept him on his back, he would always turn his head to one side or the other so didn't really get a flat spot (he did but it was just a teeny one). He sleeps all over the place now, but usually on his tummy.

jack slept on his back with his head towards the side and we just alternated each side so his head was a nice shape....he always sleeps on his tummy now

charli would never settle on her back so she was always put on her side with a rolled up hand towel in front and behind her. she still sleeps on her side

if you are happy to side sleep her, then really there's no problems as long as she's got support on either side of her to keep her in place

not long to go now...how exciting!!!!

Debs, we slept Vincent on his back when he was first born but within the first few days of being home he was coughing & spluttering & i was worried he was going to choke so i rolled him onto his side. We had made a safety sleep so started using that & he always slept on his side. i would alternate which side at which sleep etc so didn't get a flat head. He now sleeps on either his side or back. up to him now he older. But yea, i found he liked snuggling his face like i do, so side sleeping was nicer for him. Personally i don't think it's cuddly for them on their back
