Topic: Turning down Solids Posted: 27 April 2008 at 5:41pm |
Joy was going really well and we were introducing new foods every couple of days.
Now she will have a spoonful and that's it. She won't open her mouth for any more, even for stuff that she has had before and liked.
So, what do I do now? Give solids a miss for a few days and try again...keep trying...or go back to stage 1 foods?

Daniel still goes through stages of this. We just offer, if he doesn't want it then stop and give him finger foods. He'd get over himself after a few days and start eating properly again.

We think she has been teething on and off since January but no sign of teeth yet. She has been a little unwell recently. I wouldn't have thought it would put her off her fav's though.

I'd just keep offering it. We started the gremlins on solids at 5 mths coz they seemed "ready" and it went well to start with but by 9mths they were still barely eating the equiv of a small tin of baby food each at a sitting, sometimes they'd even share a tin, I just persevered with offering it to them.

Kylah done this around 6 months. But she picked up again. Even at just over 8 months she doesnt often eat a full can, think she has about 3 times. Normally does half a can. Or 3 or 4 cubes.

Sunneyhoney, Lauren was a fantastic eater of solids until a month ago. She now has what I call "on days" and "off days". Some days she will eat like a horse, eat whatever I offer and will eat the whole lot. Other days she will eat one teaspoon and she's had enough. I still offer solids every day just so she gets familiar with solid mealtimes etc.
I haven't been all that worried, as long as she's still taking good milk feeds I figure she will eat more and more solids as and when she is ready.
Funny thing is though she never has an "off day" when DH feeds her......hhhmmm, he does take more time though and acts the goat to get her to eat them!

Oh no Sunnyhoney
C did go off food altogether when she was at her worst with chest infection recently - including her favs. Was like a light switch though when she was ready again, she was really ready and all go!
Hope Joy gets interested again soon - how long has it been? I'd say C was off food for 3-4 days and I just made sure she had 4 full bottles and some water each day.

Yeah, it's been a few days now. Usually Dh is the same and gets more into her than me. But even he had a go yesterday and had no luck...oh well, will keep trying.
