Topic: how many day sleep for 8 month old Posted: 24 January 2008 at 11:29am |
hey gals
Since my memory is as good as a goldfish I can not for the life of me remember how much Cailin was sleeping when she was 8 months old but I am sure it was more than Jeremy.
The last 3 days he has only had one sleep as it is a true battle to get a second sleep out of him. By battle I mean screaming crying for upto 1.5 hours to then only sleep 30 mins, so not worth it!
but I just feel it is a bit young to be dropping down to one day sleep.
What are all the other 7-9 month olds doing re their days sleeps at the moment.

In general Spencer wakes at 6am and then I feed him and put him straight back to bed till 8. He then has another sleep in the morning (today that lasted a grand total of 45 mins). He then usually has another sleep in the afternoon from about 3-5ish, except yesterday when we were out and it was far too exciting to sleep so he just had a 30min doze in the car on the way home.
I find that some days he will quite happily sleep for 3-4 hours across two sleeps and other days he fights that second sleep, hopefully today as his morning nap has been small he will have a big afternoon one, but will probably still mean that he only gets 2-2.5 hours sleep.
I'm not sure what time you start your day, I think with Spencer sleeping in that little bit later it probably doesn't hurt too much when he drops or shortens his other sleeps and as it doesn't happen everyday and he is happy when he is up and still sleeps well at night I don't worry about it.

Daniel has 2 or 3 sleeps a day. I know most bubbas his age are meant to be down to 2, but he wouldn't cope on only 2 some days.
I think if Jeremy is happy on one sleep, just let him

Isla is just in the process of transitioning herself to one day shleep,..and she is 15 months, and has never been a good sleeper (day or night). She now goes a few days having one sleep, then back to 2 sleeps for another day or 2 .

Elle is 2 months older but still has 2 sleeps a day, sometimes she'll go down into her cot and just play but I do try to put her down regardless. I think it comes down to their individual needs though, I agree with Stacey - if you feel he does well with the 1 sleep go for it.

he does seem to cope OK which is a bit of a bummer cos I was hoping to hold onto those sleep ofr a while longer yet!!!!
He can wake anything from 6.30am to 8am, so when he is waking at 8ish I am giving him only one sleep and when he is up at 6.30 I am trying to get two in but sometimes i wonder if it worth my sainity or not
anyway, thanks for your replys, always good having confirmation one what we already know but sometimes need to be reminded....that all kids are different

Ella is still on 3 day sleeps, most days. at the moment she starts the day at 6.30 so needs her 3 sleeps. normally sleeps between 8.30-10, then 12.30-2.30 and 4.15.-5. It does seem a lot of sleep for her age, but she does need it and always goes to sleep really easily....so I am not too fussed. Am hoping through in the next month to get her down to just 2 sleeps- one mid morning and one early afternoon.
