I'm thinking of taking a couple papers at uni this coming semester, which goes from late Feb til late June. Problem is baby is due in the first week of June so I'll be heavily pregnant for most of the time and may not even be able to complete my papers if baby comes at an inconvenient time (like during an exam).

Has anyone else done this? Is it difficult to drag yourself to class every day when you're as big as a house (I imagine not any more difficult than working until baby's born)? Does anyone know of universities policies on such things?

Would be great to hear what others think, even just general advice on how it might be at that stage of pregnancy!

Hi! I was at uni for the whole of last year and had my last exam at about 37 weeks preg. I was doing my 3rd year of a full time degree (Speech and Language Therapy) and did 10 papers throughout the year. So it can be done!

You can't get an aegrotat unless you have a medical problem or go into labour during an exam etc, so there are no special allowances made.

It was obviously harder than if I wasn't pregnant (I got kidney stones during the pregnancy also which didn't help!!) but I would have got bored at home and I got a real sense of accomplishment for getting through it and actually doing relatively well. And I now only have one year left of my degree! I found that after I finished for the year and was actually sitting around waiting for the baby that I actually got bored- I found the distraction of uni made things go a lot more quickly lol.

If you are motivated then it can definitely be done!

Awesome it sounds like it's not impossible, and not even unusual for enormous pregnant women to attend uni classes!

I think I'll at least try and do a couple - it'll keep me sane waiting for baby to come, and if he decides to appear during or right before an exam or something else important (which is very, very likely ) I'll just deal with it when it happens.

Good on you! Oh and I forgot to mention, there was one lady in my antenatal class who was due a couple of weeks after me and she was completing her final year of her law degree at the same time.
