I hear your frustration!! Maybe it goes with the name - my Briona is the hair-cutter around here and she has the finest, slowest-growing hair ever We've had a couple of talks about letting just Mum do it etc and when the others get a cut I try to give her a tiny little trim as well so she doesn't feel left out. Brianna is a bit older, so maybe she needs some incentive..... once it is a certain length she could go pick out a new hairtie or something with you? Or better still, see if you can find the reason for it. If a friend of hers is getting regular cuts and compliments/attention for the new hairstyle, that might be it.

Maybe she doesn't want long hair. Have you asked her what she wants? She could be cutting it coz she doesn't like it

Keeping scissors away from her would be a good start

My daughter did it when she was about 4.5. Before she cut it it was waist length and lovely. She cut it to the scalp on one side. I had to take her to the hairdresser to get it sorted. She ended up with a really short boy cut that looked horrible. She cried and cried. Hasn't ever tried it again though.

I used to have to keep all the scissors out of reach in a locked cupboard because she'd cut up pieces of paper on the couch and end up cutting the couch

My Daughter does the same thing - she just loves cutting stuff. At kindy she can spend the whole time just cutting paper.

At home I think after seing her little cousin (3) with her new - not so cute - haircut and hearing all about it. And watching her autny cut her own hair she decided she could do it her self.

She has very little hair and it has taken us so long to get past the completley bald stage.I was so upset when she cut it and was too scared to cut anything else off to even it out.

Lets just say we had a big talk about it and scissors have been kept well out of reach from then on.

Maybe its something they do round this age, i have a niece who around this age, cut her lovely long blond hair off and it a very odd style, had to be cut to a pixie crop to fix it, but she preferred it so now she has it short - no more issues

i have asked her if she doesnt like her hair and she wants me to take her to the hairdresser to get it cut off and she crys and says no i dont want to.

She has cut her hair at kindy before to with 1 of her friends. The only reason she has scissors sometimes is because she likes to cut pictures out of mags and stuff.

the other day Amelia was in the jolly jumper and brianna had been cutting out things and when she was finished i told her to go put put the scissors away and when i came out she had cut one of the sides of the jolly jumper Amelia was just hanging there man i just didnt no what to do it could have been a very bad situation i gave her time out and a stern talking to but it seems to be very hard to get things threw to her i asked why she done it and she said coz i dont like my sister . Some people have noticed that if im spending to much time with Amelia Brianna tends to be mean to Amelia so think she may need some more time with mum & dad

Anyone had problems with siblings?

Sorry bout the novel.
mother to Brianna, Amelia & Mathew.

What are you for dinner on Fri night? We going to Palmy.. might come and distract Brianna and her and Arna can play for a while...

I don't know what to do about Brianna chicky... wonder if I will have the same prob when #2 is here.. It's a hard one cause Bri has always been quite independent - is there anything that they can do together?? ... I have no ideas really.. but maybe a hang out session with a long lost mate will help!!

My 4yr DS cut s few blond locks off DS 2yr hair.
They took down the gate & went downstairs & found some little scissors in my room, I only noticed when I found blond locks of hair on the stairs & confronted two little boys looking guilty with DS4yr blaming it on DS2yr even though he had the scissors in his hand has not done it since so hopefully he wont be the hairdresser in the family
