hi
its my nieces 5th birthday in january next year and she turns 5,its a pretty big thing in my family, she is the spoilt one and i have been given the stressfull job of planning a nice birthday party..
doe's anyone have any ideas on anything that would be good for a 5yr old girls b'day party?
also my 21st is next year any ideas on making it a memorable day?
my friend sent me this website the other day...they do the decorating and supply party bags etc and also jumping castles and stuff... she used them for her twins birthday (think they were 7) and said it was great.
man i had my daughters 5th birthday party in june, after saying id "keep it to a minimum of 10 kids " there were, i think, about 30 kids there, and wouldnt you know it? it rained!i had planned on making them eat picnic style outside, but instead they had to eat picnic style inside.
I was too poor at the time to do a bouncy castle, but i did the traditional games , pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey etc.
The thing with kids is, they can have fun with out any toys, they still have a thing called an imagination, lucky for them, we seem to lose it as we get older, except for a lucky few, and so even if the parents are going "oh my gosh, i should have done this etc etc" i can guarantee that your child and her friends will be totally oblivious, they will still have fun.
I went to my friends sons 5th birthday a couple of weeks ago and she was running around like a mad hen until i finally forced her into a chair, and told her to relax and enjoy watching her son enjoy his day, because in the end, they only get one 5th birthday (well most do anyway)and its better to be able to remember what your child was doing, than remember what you didnt have...
As for your 21st, i had a BIG 21st, 160 approx all up, i did know most of them but a lot i was like "hiiiii...who are you? um thanks for the present!" , looking back i wish id kept it smaller, say about 50/60 people.
But most importantly-get photos! i have NONE because i didnt think to provide cameras, and i have nothing to remind myself of it,except my cards (from the people i didnt really know haha)
For the 5th birthday, it really depends, have a talk with her about what she would like, little girls love planning stuff and my girls always love being involved and picking their "theme" Fairy dress up partys go down well and are relatively cheap. Pink plates, pink cups, pink spoons, fairy table cloth (all $2 shop stuff, nice and cheap!) sprinkle a little packet of star confetti on the table and you're done. easy food too, just chuck some pizzas in for hot food, have some chippies and then cupcakes, wafer bickies, (think pink and girly and you can't go wrong!) greens puts out a fairy cupcake mix which is soo good, strawberry milk, and jelly and icecream. You can just say on the invites to come dressed as a fairy, then just get a couple of pairs of fairy wings from $2 as a back up for anyone who forgets.
Fairly cheap, and simple. And from there, you can do as big or as little as you want. Most hire places hire out tables and chairs in kid sizes, something like $10 for a long trestle table at kid height, and $1.50 per chair.
From what i know now, our best parties have been the ones where i went for small numbers, low stress, and didn't plan too much, just a couple of games and let the kids play in between times... either outside, or we were lucky to have the girls cubby house and kitchen out for our last party which kept em al entertained for ages. The other way you can go is look at places around your area, most will have people who hire the jumpy castles or hire out the little tikes slides or playgrounds.. which there is one that would be all good for 5 yr olds too, usually fairly cheap (ours was $40 for a weeks hire!)
ok, so i love parties.
Not so sure about the 21st, depends on what you want to do. we invited our families and close friends to steak out, they paid their own way, we had a nice family dinner, pressies etc then we went out on the town afterwards.. (although i was about 5 months preggers at the time..so not too late)
I think it would be pretty safe if you do a princess or fairy party.
My 21st was just in April, we went for a holiday down to My parents and just went out for dinner as a family then went to my parents where we had desert and I was presented with my 21st key. DH my sis and her BF were going to go out for drinks afterwards (i know it sounds silly)but I was too worried about leaving the girls sleeping at my parents in case they woke up and got scared of being in a strange place. Anyway we found it nice just watching a dvd and had a few cocktails
