Topic: Can you say: ARGH! vent/daycare Posted: 04 February 2008 at 4:41pm |
Ok, here goes. I am going nuts.
We have our kids in childcare, we have done for the past nearly 3-ish years since I returned to study after having Paris.
It is well known that while you or your partner is studying then some childcare is subsidised, dependant on the amount the working one earns.
Anyways, we get review letters, always a week apart for each kid (darn it just send them together!!!) this time we returned Ayja’s and a few days later we got Paris’s in the post, I then realised that the part the daycare fills in for Ayja’s one was neatly folded behind our fruitbowl (was not me who put it there). So anyway we returned Paris’s and got them to take the other part for Ayja’s, it got stapled to the pack of Paris’s.
Here’s the argh part.
We get a letter, to say that they had received Paris’s but not ayja’s, that her subsidy would be cut if they didn’t get a new one, they had sent us another to fill out. But also that since I was not studying that they would only pay 9 hrs subsidy each kid until I started study in march.
They figured it out finally after we went in and told them to have a better look that Ayja's was attached to paris's one. however i can't actually talk to the childcare co-ordinator because, "oh they don't see people" so obviously they are still under the impression that 1) i study.. despite me being ont heir records as working and the millions of pay slips i have taken in religiously fortnightly for the last year.
Here’s the thing, I DON”T STUDY! I have been working for a nearly 2 years. MIKE is the one that is studying, which funnily enough he has also been at for the whole of last year, this is his study break.
We were told that they do not pay subsidy while there is someone home to look after the kids. Never mind that in order to actually keep our place we still have to pay full price which means we have to find about $1,200 or more in the next 4 weeks in order to do this now that the money has been stopped.
Not only that, they now want whatever has been paid out since the start of the year back, so add another $800. total of $2,000 so far! And they want it back.
Add that to all the other stuff they have ballsed up in the last year meaning we have a debt of about $300 with them anyway which we are paying back.
PLUS no-one else that we know of who has one person on their in-between/xmas study break has been hit up for this or told that they are not subsidised, they are all still happily subsidised, so what the heck is the deal?
I am ready to really just go completely crazy nuts. Where do they think we’ll get $2,000 from?
Anyone out there studying and currently on their break.. are you still subsidised?
This never happened the whole few years I was studying, so what on earth have they got wrong this time.
Am sick of it, the next 3 yrs that mike has to study can’t go fast enough, I can’t wait for the day I can tell them where to put their ‘friendly’ blue and white letters.

I'm pretty sure I was still subsidised over the holidays. But then I usually took her out over summer break so not sure entirely.
Sounds ridiculous. You CAN NOT take your child out for 3 months and expect to retain your place in the facility! And neither can you be expected to pay full price. ARGH.
I suggest actually going in and talking to someone. It is really hit and miss with the call centre.

lol I went in and talked, it was the poeple behind the desk that said this, and them also, who rung the childcare co-ordinator who "doesn't see people" who was at a desk about 5 desks away, who still just talked on the phone to the receptionist instead of coming over and talking to us.
ARGH

Yep I get my subsidised. I would try and get them out of there once Paris is finished up there later this year. If WINZ has stuffed us around (which they have in the past) our daycare was sweet about it and got the money back off WINZ later.
Also I would demand a meeting with that person or else that daycare will get bad mouthed in Palmy (hey I can start something up if you want ).

We definitely got subsidised during holidays. What I hate is the 6 monthly reviews which we get separately for each gremlin even tho they both have the exact same care arrangements, it's a PITA and a waste of my time. They should just keep paying it till the childcare centre advises the child has left or changed hours.

Thanks guys, What makes it even more helpful is that my caseworker is on holiday till thursday, and the childcare lady goes on holiday tomorrow, So am planning on making an appointment with my case worker for friday and hoping it all sorts it self out. I think it is all stemming from the belief that i'm currently working and that i expect them to pay childcare just because until i start study.. which, lol I'm not!

I get you know. WINZ are horrible with the stupid subsidies. I'm just doing mine for both of the boys and all the stuff I have to get for it is stupid.

We got our subsidy cut over Dh hols as well. He is doing callout work so can't really be at home to look after DS. But they couldn't understand this. In the end we took DS out of daycare & I started my maternity leave early. Was a pain as we could do with the money I would have earned. Now we have to look for somewhere for when the new baby comes in March & we want to put DS back in daycare. WINZ get it so wrong sometimes grr.
