I would PM but I can't remember who you are .

Question: Do they still do PAT tests in NZ?? If they do at what year levels are they done at??

The reason I ask is my mum is in Qld now and they have just done the PAT test over there (I remember doing it at school) and mum asked if they are still being done here.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Have you tried looking online at all?
I found this:

PATs –

PAT stands for Progressive Achievement Tests. These tests are designed to assess listening comprehension from Year 3, reading vocabulary from Year 4 and both reading comprehension and maths from Year 4.

PAT test results give teachers an idea of how a student measures against the national results of other students the same age and in the same Year group. These results also give teachers on idea of what to focus their teaching on in follow up.

Yep I think so. I can definitely remember the Year 6/7/8 doing them.

ETA: And I think it was in Term 1 cos I remember telling parents the results at the first parent interview...

Yes, it goes up to Year 8. There are other tests that some schools do as well to test reading/writing/maths

Yeah running records (Probe) are standard, and I'm pretty sure most schools are doing the numeracy project now, so complete Gloss testing for that. The ASTTLE writing assessments are quite common too.

My mum knows all about running records - her school in Aus found out she can do them (and she does them better than the teachers) so she does the whole school - good thing it is a smallish school.
