Topic: would you wanna know?? Posted: 10 September 2007 at 7:42pm |
Was watching the trailers for Medium tonight, where alison can "see" the death of her youngest child, and was wondering, if you could predict (and you knew it was accurate), the death of yourself, your DP or children, would you want to know?
After a week of thinking, I have decided no. i would obsess too much about how to stop it. even if it was 80 years in the future, it would play on my mind too much I think. so no, am glad i have no idea.

nope you would always be living to that day and stressing when it was getting closer instead of living for the moment. I say treat every day like its your last. I always tell my kids I love them at bedtime and give them a kiss... so they always know.

Oh I dont know now I thought I wouldnt want to know but then maybe I would.......

no, not at all.
HAving said that, though, I am supposed to be going and getting genetic councelling and tests to see if I carry the fautly Gene that my dad's family carries, as as well as dad, his brother, sister and father have all died of cancer. We have been talking about it alot these last few days, as we are in the process of (pre wedding) making new wills and life insurance policies etc. Rod isn't keen as he knows I am a catastophiser and will obsess that I am dying all the time if I found out I have the gene. I sort of want to, so we can get in there (me and the Dr) and get some sort of action plan in place. I don't want to end up liek my dad and not find out till I was secondary and beyond treatment.

then there's the whole 'final destination' thing...if it didn't happen at the time it was suppose to, it would happen another time

I saw the show last night and all I could think about was that she had seen her child dead
Even if I did know when and how and even if I could change things so it didn't happen then, that image would haunt me forever!
I don't usually watch those shows (I have an over active imagination and would have nasty nightmares! I'll grow up one day! lol) so I got a bit upset and went and gave my Princess and extra kiss when she was asleep
