 Topic: Bottles - Tommee tippee or Nuby?

Hi!
I am choosing between 2 brands of baby bottles (I intend on breastfeeding but want to express so DH can do a feed every now and then) - can anyone give any feedback on these?
Tommee Tippee - closer to nature range - I have been told these are great as they are more breast shaped and the teat isn't so long so baby won't gag.

Nuby - natural touch range- they look very similar in shape to the tommee tippee, but are available in polyprop or new silicon bottles, and they seem to have a fancy teat that allows for good air flow and flexy.

and what are best - slow / medium / or fast flow teats?

We use Tommee tippee ones, mainly because they are easy to source, can get at pak n save!!
They are BPA free also so that is good, my daughter was breast and formula fed for a while due to complications and she was able to latch well using those bottles. If you are purchasing the TT ones - check that the writing on the actual bottle is dark grey - I got some that were embosted ( I guess thats what you call it! like Braille) and its a PITA to read
Cant help with Nuby - havent seen them where I shop!

oh and for newborn we just used the teats that were with it - slow flow for up to 3 months.

oh and is it ok to express into the bottle that is part of the pump then pour it into another bottle? I have bought a Medela mini electric pump, but don't want to buy their bottles as I read on another tread that you can't steralize them in the microwave.

yip - for sure, as long as they are sterile its not a problem. I used the medula pump too and then stored the milk in the fridge in the TT bottle until feed time.

I use the Nuby bottles and absolutely love them. They're anticolic as well as BPA free. If you do get them then you'll need the slow teats for quite a while as they're quite quick flowing. My daugher is 5 1/2months and has only just gone up to the medium flow teats!

The tomme tippe ones are anti colic also :) They are really good, but I haven't seen the nuby ones so can't compare them.

Just saw the nuby ones in farmers, they look very similar - even have the same formula containers that sit in the bottle like the TT ones. Seem more expensive tho, but good to see what they look like!!!

Can't comment on the bottles but just thought I would add that I wouldn't express into the same container and store as already frozen ebm. Sorry having mummy brain and can't quite explain it properly lol. Think ykwim tho lol.
If you are planning on drinking the night of your hens night and getting written off make sure that you express enough to feed the next day and express off the milk that comes through in the morning as this will have alcohol in it

You don't need to 'pump and dump' because of the alcohol. Breast milk is a blood product, and so the alcohol passes through, it doesn't stay in the milk
You might want to express for comfort reasons though.
