Topic: Help - photos onto a disc Posted: 13 March 2009 at 9:10pm |
Hi,
I want to transfer bubs photos onto a disc but my photos are quite large (I don't know why) and on a disc I got 22 photos and its full - so does anyone know how I can make my photos to a smaller size? This is a new computer (Vista) and I've got no clue.

There should be a resizing thing in the windows picture program, sorry for the lack of technical words
BUT....
I would not resize them I'd keep them as they are & if your computer has a DVD/CD drive I'd be putting them onto DVD, works exactly the same way as writting to CD.

You should get more than 22 photos onto a disc, even if they are hi resolution. Is there already stuff on the disc?
If you do resize, make sure you save the resized versions as copies.
A good free programme for re-sizing is Irfanview. You can download it for free and resize using that. Once you have downloaded it open the programme, go to 'file' and select the batch resize/rename option.

Eeeeeeeeeeeee I have just spent hours doing this the damn disc once I have resized them has now taken 45 pics - hubby said I've been given the wrong discs at the shop they have given me DVD-RW ones and I didn't know at the time that's not what I wanted, I told the guy I wanted to put a whole lot of photos onto the discs but he seemed just as confused as me - and whoa I got the wrong ones - I am so frustrated.

DVD -RW discs should hold alot more then 45 pics unless your pics are massive as.
What size is each photo on average?

Thats TINY!!!!! They wont be printable at that size. I think a reasonable resolution for printing is about 600kb? Someone might like to correct me.
But anyway, I have a 10.1MP camera and manage to get at least 70 photos on a normal CDR. DVDs should hold at least 4.7 GB worth of photos at least 1000 photos should fit on those?

Does it say anywhere the size of the disk?
I was doing this the onther night and my photos are all roung 1.5mb (150kb is pretty little) I just had some basic CD's which were around 700mb and managed to fit 400 on a disk...
Soumething just doesnt sound right.... could the disk be faulty.... are you sure it is full?

Hi it says 4.7GB, just brought them yesterday and have tired 3 of them (think its more me than the disc), I'm sure its full as when loading the photos it stops and tells me that there is a problem loading the photos (after for instance 22 photos), and when I click on the properties of the disc it says FULL.

Hmmmmm that doesn't sound right to me. I don't burn pics very often. But 4.7GB is massive, its bigger then some of the old computers. DVD-RW should be able to take more pics then a cd. it would be like burning a cd-rw compared to a dvd-rw you will only get maybe 20 songs on a cd, but on a dvd you'll get 80 odd. What programme are you using to burn? Maybe thats what it is.

Well the photos are on the disc!! I just transferred all the ones I made to a smaller format to a separate file hubby decided to try and figure it out for me so he turns the computer off (he said it had frozen) and the pics were on the DVD???? So off I go to delete the ones I don't want on there, I tried to fix a red eye one and it said the system couldn't - the photos that I deleted after that are still on there it is all so strange (gosh I sound so dizzy). So I closed it down and the damn thing opened again but not with all the photos, hubby has got them up again but I've had enough and aren't going to touch it again. Lets hope it a while before I attempt to do this again.
