Recommend me a family tent.
We are going camping and have to upgrade our prebaby tent. It needs to be two rooms as we like the idea of him sleeping in one while we are in the front room.
Do you like your dome tent??
Anything else you look for when buying a tent?

We have a coleman - they are quite expensive but we've found it brilliant. We went away at new years last year and it bucketed down for a couple of days and we had the worst wind - the tent had no problems at all. Love it!

I have one from Kathmandu, they've a huge range, ours is a "basecamp" one. They come in all different sizes and aren't too pricey. The one we have only has one room but also has a entrance room but it stood up to the heat, cold, wind, rain!!
Oh and some warehouses sell tents, I've been seeing them advertised HEAPS in the mailers and they're on sale atm, not sure what they're like weather wise, probably more for summer camping though.
Or you could o all out at an outdoor shop, not sure how much their tents are though...
Kathmandu Basecamp tents - has their range. Not too badly priced.

Ours is a 3 room dome one, have no issues with it. I can't remember what brand but its the one they sell at Kmart I think. Had our first camping trip last summer when Joel was 5 months and it was great. Wind and rain the first night and no problems for the tent!

I think ours is a Kiwicamper or something like that? Bought it from Hunting and Fishing a couple of years ago when they were having a tent expo. Its fantastic, so easy to put up!! We use it at least 1 weekend a month from October through to May and havent had any issues with it. We are going to upgrade to the 3 room one this summer so the kids have their own room and we can have a central room too.
But then again I would LOVE a canvas tent!!

We have a kiwi camping tent and love it. They stood up very well when Target did a product check too. You can purchase them from Mitre 10 as well.
I personally prefer dome tents to canvas. Don't know why, probably just coz they look better.
LeahandJoel is it Jackeroo? Think that's the kmart brand?

We've camped for years. Started out with a canvas, two room tent which was great when the kids were little as it gave us plenty of room. We've since moved on to dome tents as the canvas was just too heavy (with all the poles) with everything else we take now too. Our first dome tent ripped last year in some terrible winds but it was probably more our fault as a couple of the flexi poles had been put up incorrectly by the kids and had snapped which ripped the fabric. Anyway we replaced it with another dome.
Definitely pros and cons with both sorts of tents so I suppose it's more about what fits with your family and their requirements.

We HAD a cavas one, it was great, cept for when the material ripped a bit and caused leaking, we found the canvas one took waaaay longer to put up and was way heavier.

We have a Colemans too and it is awesome.
We camp every year and have had this tent for the last 3 years and it is awesome. Ours is a two room tent but we brought the xtra canvas for the sunroom so now its 3 rooms. Was great last year with DS as we had a kitchen room which was kept shut from him, a play room and a sleeping room.
I personally wouldn't go dome as I don't like the shape of them. I find the square ones just easier for us - I guess its personally preference.
