Hi, is it ok to drink coffee for the 1st trimester while pregnant? As I read an article somewhere that there is no evidence that it harms the baby during pregnancy? is this wise or should I stop?

As with everything it tends to be in moderation.. If you usually drink coffe then fine, but dry substituting every second one for a milo or such, or even water.. dunno if you are up to the morning sickness stage yet, but the smell of strong coffe is usually enough to set anyone off.
I tend to spend the day sipping out on sprite, in both of my last preganacies and over the last few days - i let it go a bit flat and have that and it seems to do the trick, that and milo (i don't drink coffee), water makes me feel full and icky - although i do try and keep that up too.

I have two cups a day if I didn't I'd get horrible headaches, which just aren't worth dealing with. I think it's a personal choice

I dont normally drink a lot of coffee, but I think as long as you drink it sparingly you will be fine.
I used to have half a teasoon of coffee in the mornings when I was at work as I found it actually helped a bit with my morning sickness which was what i needed at 4am (did shift work).

I do try to limit my caffine intake and at most have 2 cups of caffinated drinks in a day, although most days I have none.

I used to drink about 2 - 3 coffees or teas per day but have cut it down to none, I now just drink water. Something I read though, said up to 3 a day was safe.

I had one coffee each morning throughout my pregnancy and it was great!! I still do the same now and I'm b/f. As far as I'm aware, 1 - 2 cups of tea/coffee a day is fine |

I have heard that too, 1-2 per day is fine. I guess it's just a personal choice whether you cut down to that much, or you cut it out altogether. Personally, I don't drink coffee, but when I do get pg, I'm going to find it very difficult laying off Coke etc.

I'll generally only have 1-2 cups a day. If i have more than that I'll get a migraine.
Drank coffe with first preg and will when i get preg again.
Love the taste too much.... |

I gave up caffienated drinks when ttc as it is something that is said to help. I just enver started again, as I find it easier to moderate none than stick to one or two! Plus I like the idea of not bf caffiene to bubs.
i believe the studies that show a risk of elevated mc rates involve a lot of coffee so sticking to a small number a day (I agree, I think 3 was reccomended) should be fine. I have the occassional decaf coffee when I crave the taste instead. And thank goodness for caffiene free diet coke - i have really been loving coke this pregnancy for some weird reason!

the problems with the diet fizzy drinks is that the artificial sweetners aren't always that great either.
I used to let mysel fhave a drink of coke a day - considering i don't drink coffe i thinks that's ok.. and i found i craved it cos it seems to quench your thirst.. it doesn't, but it seems like it does, lol
